- Gate Layer powers Web3 with fast, scalable solutions and new tools for decentralized apps.
Gate has launched the Gate Layer, an ultra-fast, high-performance Layer 2 network designed to scale blockchain transactions efficiently. The network is built on the OP Stack and is fully compatible with Ethereum’s Virtual Machine (EVM). Gate Layer addresses common issues like slow transaction speeds and high gas fees, offering a solution to enhance user experience within the Web3 ecosystem.
Gate Layer offers increased speed and lower costs, supporting more than 5,700 transactions per second (TPS) with a block time of just one second. In comparison, traditional Layer 1 networks struggle with scalability, with much slower speeds and higher transaction fees. Gate Layer offers a solution, reducing the cost of 1 million transfers to under $30, far below the price on Base or Solana.
Gate Layer introduces cross-chain interoperability via integration with LayerZero. This enables seamless asset transfers between major blockchains like Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, and Solana. By providing faster, more cost-efficient blockchain services, Gate Layer aims to improve DeFi, NFT, and meme token interactions.
Gate Token (GT) Gains New Utility and Deflationary Mechanisms
Gate has expanded the utility of its native GateToken (GT), making it the exclusive gas token for all on-chain activities on Gate Layer. This includes transactions, smart contract deployments, and NFT minting. As the network grows, the demand for GT will increase, solidifying its central role within the ecosystem.
Gate continues to operate its dual deflationary model for GT, which includes scheduled quarterly burns based on platform performance. Additionally, under the EIP-1559 model, all transaction base fees are burned automatically on-chain. To date, over 180 million GT tokens have been permanently removed from circulation, representing more than 60% of the initial supply.
The deflationary mechanisms aim to strengthen GT’s value over time by reducing its overall supply. These efforts ensure that GT remains a key asset for users interacting with the Gate Layer. As the network expands and more decentralized applications (DApps) are developed, GT’s role as a utility token will continue to grow.
GateLayer’s Ecosystem and Strategic Push into Web3
Gate is positioning Gate Layer as the backbone of its “All in Web3” strategy, aiming to provide comprehensive solutions across the Web3 ecosystem. The network will support a suite of products, including Perp, a high-performance perpetual futures hub, Gate Fun, a no-code incubator for token launches, and Meme Go, a cross-chain meme token tracker.
These tools are designed to cater to the entire lifecycle of Web3 users, from token creation to decentralized trading. Perp, for example, will leverage Gate Layer’s high-speed performance to provide liquidity for perpetual futures trading. Gate Fun simplifies token launches, allowing creators to launch projects without technical barriers, while Meme Go ensures seamless cross-chain trading for meme token enthusiasts.
Gate aims to expand its role from a crypto exchange to a full-stack Web3 service provider. The launch of Gate Layer provides the infrastructure to support this shift, offering a low-cost, high-performance environment for users worldwide. Gate’s integrated approach aims to bridge the gap between decentralized platforms and traditional web services.
