The move tracked wider weakness across the tech sector, with sentiment turning cautious as geopolitical tensions around Iran added to market jitters. Volume was lighter than usual, with around 42.7 million shares traded versus an average of 50.5 million.
Q4 results remain the most recent earnings data point. Revenue came in at $1.41 billion, up 70% year-over-year, topping the analyst estimate of $1.34 billion. EPS was $0.25, beating the $0.23 consensus by two cents.
U.S. commercial revenue grew 137% year-over-year in Q4, with remaining deal value up 145%. U.S. government revenue rose 66% over the same period. Street estimates currently project government revenue growth to slow to 42% in 2026 and 31% in 2027.
Despite strong results, the stock carries a P/E ratio of around 234. The 50-day moving average sits at $149.21, and the 200-day is at $168.72. Insiders sold more than 1 million shares over the last 90 days, including CEO Alexander Karp, who offloaded 493,025 shares at an average price of $133.78.
Golden Dome and Maven Contract
On the defense side, the Wall Street Journal reported that Palantir and Anduril are developing the software layer for the White House’s Golden Dome missile shield. The project’s lead, Space Force General Michael Guetlein, said the first phase will cost $185 billion — up from an initial estimate of $125 billion.
On March 20, the Department of War formally designated Palantir’s Maven Smart System as the system of record for battlefield command-and-control. That designation gives Palantir a formal standing in Pentagon budget planning going forward.
Rosenblatt analyst John McPeake said the Golden Dome program could generate several billion dollars for Palantir in its first phase alone. He pointed to historical software allocation patterns in similar programs like Aegis BMD and JADC2, where 20–50% of total budgets went to software.
If Golden Dome’s $185 billion budget runs from 2026 to 2028, that’s roughly $60 billion per year. At those historical ratios, more than $12 billion per year could flow toward software. McPeake noted that the growing role of AI in missile defense systems could push that share even higher.
McPeake’s combined government revenue estimate for Palantir from 2026 to 2028 stands at $18.2 billion — 25% above the Street consensus of $13.6 billion.
Analyst Ratings
McPeake maintained a Buy rating with a $200 price target. He described Golden Dome as supportive of upside to Street estimates, saying current consensus government revenue numbers could look “quite conservative” if the program begins to ramp.
The broader analyst picture is mixed. Piper Sandler and Wedbush both carry Overweight or Outperform ratings with $230 price targets. Cantor Fitzgerald has a Neutral rating. Jefferies recently recommended selling the stock.
The MarketBeat consensus stands at Moderate Buy with an average price target of $194.61, implying around 32% upside from current levels.
Norges Bank entered a new stake worth $5.15 billion in Q4. Vanguard holds 213.9 million shares and State Street holds 101.3 million, with both having added to their positions in recent quarters.
