TLDR
- Ultra v3 cuts trading fees up to 10 times and boosts sandwich protection 34x.
- New Iris router finds best prices across JupiterZ, DFlow, Hashflow, and OKX.
- ShadowLane engine enables private, sub-second trades with MEV risk reduced.
- Gasless trades now support Token-2022 and memecoin pairs with $10 minimum.
Jupiter, the leading decentralized exchange aggregator on Solana, has announced the launch of Ultra v3, its latest upgrade to the Ultra protocol. The new version introduces major improvements in trade execution, slippage control, and protection against Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) attacks. It also extends Jupiter’s “Gasless Support,” allowing users to trade without holding SOL for transaction fees, expanding access for new and active traders.
Enhanced Trade Execution and Performance
Ultra v3 has been developed to deliver faster and more efficient trading. Jupiter stated that the protocol now offers up to 10 times lower execution fees and 34 times better sandwich protection than before. It also provides what the company described as “industry-leading performance” in reducing slippage during transactions.
According to Jupiter, these advancements stem from an upgraded predictive execution engine that uses “just-in-time simulations” to improve route accuracy. This system prioritizes the most efficient trading paths, helping traders achieve tighter quotes and consistent results, even during volatile market movements.
New Router and Expanded Integration
The Ultra v3 release introduces Iris, a new routing system described as a “meta aggregator.” Iris identifies the best pricing between various platforms, including JupiterZ, DFlow, Hashflow, and OKX. JupiterZ, the platform’s native Request for Quote (RFQ) system, reportedly processes about $100 million in daily volume without slippage. It will now be exclusively available through Ultra v3.
Jupiter confirmed that Ultra v3 is already integrated across all its products. This includes its mobile and desktop applications, API services, and Pro Tools suite. The company stated that users will benefit from the new routing and execution features automatically, without needing to adjust existing setups.
Strengthened MEV Protection and Private Transactions
A major part of the update focuses on minimizing users’ exposure to MEV risks. MEV refers to the profits that can be extracted by reordering or front-running transactions on the blockchain. Jupiter explained that, unlike other providers that sell order flow to external MEV searchers, Ultra v3 keeps all trade executions internal.
The upgraded system includes Jupiter’s new transaction landing engine, ShadowLane. This engine provides sub-second, private transaction processing designed to prevent external manipulation. “Ultra v3 does the opposite – it minimizes your exposure to toxic MEV by ensuring your trades are never handed off to any external provider for on-chain execution,” Jupiter wrote.
Expanded Gasless Support and Broader Token Compatibility
Ultra v3 also extends Jupiter’s Gasless Support feature, allowing traders to complete swaps without needing SOL in their wallets to cover network fees. The platform automatically deducts the gas cost from the traded tokens if they meet a qualifying value.
The extended support now includes Token-2022 and memecoin-to-memecoin trading pairs, widening accessibility across Solana’s ecosystem. Jupiter added that the minimum trade size for gasless transactions has been lowered to $10, enabling smaller users to participate more easily.
With Ultra v3, Jupiter aims to streamline the decentralized trading process on Solana, providing faster, cheaper, and safer transactions for users across its network. The protocol’s integration across all Jupiter platforms marks another step toward simplifying decentralized trading for both retail and institutional participants.
