The new feature allows users worldwide to access tokenized versions of US stocks and ETFs directly through the wallet app. Users can swap stablecoins like USDC for tokenized assets including Tesla, Apple, and major ETFs without needing traditional brokerage accounts.
The integration operates through partnerships with two key providers. Ondo Finance supplies the tokenized real-world assets through smart contracts issued on Ethereum, while 1inch provides the trading infrastructure and liquidity for smooth asset swaps.
Trust Wallet CEO Eowyn Chen said the move makes global finance more open and efficient. She described blockchain technology as democratizing access to financial markets and creating a foundation for more inclusive finance worldwide.
Technical Implementation
The tokenized assets function as digital representations of real-world properties that serve as ownership certificates. Smart contracts on Ethereum power these tokens, which are designed to track the underlying asset prices with transparency and blockchain accountability.
Solana support is planned for future releases as Trust Wallet expands its multi-chain approach. The company website indicates plans to integrate additional RWA providers and liquidity sources over time to broaden user access.
Trading operates during US market hours from Monday to Friday between 1:30 PM and 8:00 PM UTC. Outside these hours, the platform tracks user interest for potential future features like 24/7 trading or limit orders.
The service requires a minimum investment of just $1 and eliminates the need for local brokerage accounts or documentation. Users can access tokenized assets directly through their self-custody wallets without intermediaries.
Geographic Restrictions and Market Access
The tokenized RWA feature is not available in several key regions including the United States, United Kingdom, and European Economic Area. Trust Wallet’s website warns that swaps will not process for users residing in restricted regions.
Nathan Allman, founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, described the launch as a breakthrough in financial access. He compared the development to how stablecoins brought the US dollar onchain, saying Ondo Global Markets does the same for US securities.
The collaboration allows Trust Wallet to position itself as the first self-custody wallet offering cross-chain tokenized real-world assets. Marketing head Sami Waittinen emphasized the company’s multichain and provider-agnostic philosophy as driving the expansion.
Waittinen explained that Ondo provides the assets while 1inch powers the trading infrastructure, with Trust Wallet making everything accessible through self-custody. The platform aims to give users the broadest possible access to tokenized assets over time.
Industry experts note important distinctions between traditional cryptocurrency ownership and tokenized real-world assets. While crypto ownership through private keys provides direct asset control, RWA tokens require trust in the issuer or custodian holding the underlying assets.
Trust Wallet’s RWA integration represents part of its broader vision to build a comprehensive Web3 platform. The company plans to offer services ranging from tokenized asset exposure to staking, swaps, and onchain identity features while maintaining self-custody principles.
