TLDR
- World launched MiniKit 2.0 on World Chain to unify web and World App development.
- MiniKit 2.0 aligns with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard for simpler integration.
- Flashblocks cuts transaction confirmation times from up to 2 seconds to about 200 ms.
- Gas sponsorship via Privy and ZeroDev lets developers cover user transaction fees.
- Mini Apps recorded 12.1 million opens in the last 7 days and 2.2 billion total opens.
World has launched MiniKit 2.0 on World Chain, introducing a standardized framework that allows developers to build applications once and deploy them across both the web and World App with minimal adjustments. The release aims to reduce integration effort while making it easier for developers to bring existing products into the World ecosystem.
The update aligns MiniKit 2.0 with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard, which is widely used for wallet-provider communication across Web3 applications. By following that standard, World is trying to make development more consistent across environments and reduce the need for custom integrations. According to the material released with the launch, some existing applications can be converted into Mini Apps with as little as two lines of code.
The release arrives as Mini Apps continue to record higher usage across the ecosystem. World said Mini Apps logged more than 12.1 million opens over the past seven days, with total opens now above 2.2 billion. Those figures point to continued activity in consumer-facing applications built on World Chain and distributed through World App.
MiniKit 2.0 Standardizes Development Across Platforms
One of the core changes in MiniKit 2.0 is that applications within World App now more closely mirror their web versions. That allows developers to maintain a single code base instead of building and updating separate versions for different environments. The approach is designed to simplify testing, improve distribution, and make product updates easier to manage.
The update also broadens payment support through additional stablecoins. World said MiniKit 2.0 now supports local stablecoin options, including wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, wCLP, and EURC. This gives developers a way to offer region-specific payment options without having to build separate local payment infrastructure for each market.
There's never been a better time to build on World:

• Flashblocks with ~200ms confirmations on World Chain

The payment expansion reflects a broader trend in app development on blockchain networks, where developers increasingly seek settlement tools that align with local user behavior. By adding more stablecoin options, World Chain is positioning itself as a network that can support localized digital payments within apps built for a broader public audience.
Faster Transactions and Gas Sponsorship Expand User Access
MiniKit 2.0 also includes technical upgrades to improve app performance. World said Flashblocks has been integrated into the framework, reducing transaction confirmation times from up to two seconds to around 200 milliseconds. That change is particularly relevant for applications that depend on real-time interaction, including gaming, trading, and social consumer tools.
Another feature added in the update is gas sponsorship through Privy, powered by ZeroDev’s account abstraction infrastructure. This allows developers to cover transaction costs for users, rather than requiring users to maintain wallet balances for fees. The change is intended to make onboarding easier, especially for people using blockchain-based apps for the first time.
Together, faster transaction handling and sponsored gas reduce two of the most common barriers slowing broader app adoption in Web3. Developers can offer smoother user experiences, while users can interact with apps without having to deal with technical setup steps that are often unfamiliar outside crypto-native communities.
World Build 3 Opens as Developer Activity Grows
Alongside the MiniKit 2.0 rollout, World has opened applications for World Build 3, its developer program for teams building on World Chain and using World’s proof-of-human infrastructure.
The company said previous participants raised more than $15 million from venture firms and launched applications used by millions of verified users.
The new cohort will begin with a four-day hackathon that offers $20,000 in prizes. After that, the program will continue with a build week in Seoul, a three-month virtual development phase, and a demo day in San Francisco. World is also presenting MiniKit 2.0 at EthCC, which is running from March 30 to April 2.
