Japan-based crypto exchange Bitbank has introduced a Visa credit card that settles bills using bitcoin held on its platform. The company announced the launch on Monday and confirmed it partnered with EPOS Card, the fintech arm of Marui Group. The product allows users to connect their exchange balances to card repayments and automate settlement in digital assets.
Bitbank Introduces Bitcoin Bill Settlement Feature
Bitbank said it worked with EPOS Card to issue the Visa-branded “EPOS Crypto Card for Bitbank.” The company stated that it designed the card to link directly with customer balances held on its exchange. It described the product as the first service in Japan to settle credit card payments directly from a crypto exchange balance.
Users can choose automatic repayment in Bitcoin from their Bitbank accounts. The company confirmed that the settlement option currently supports only bitcoin. Bitbank said it may expand support to other cryptocurrencies in the future.
Bitcoin Rewards Program and Market Context
Cardholders receive 0.5% crypto cashback based on total monthly spending. Bitbank allows users to select rewards in bitcoin, ether, or Aster. The exchange deposits the rewards directly into each user’s Bitbank account.
Bitbank stated in its release that the card connects everyday payments with digital asset management. The company explained that customers can manage repayment and rewards within their existing exchange accounts. It added that both partners will review options to broaden cryptocurrency support.
Binance Japan launched its own crypto-linked credit card earlier this year. The “Binance Japan Card” enables users to earn BNB on eligible spending. That rollout followed growing interest in crypto-based payment products in Japan.
Bitbank confirmed that the new card operates on the Visa network. The company said users can apply through its platform and link their exchange accounts during setup. It stated that bitcoin balances must cover the full repayment amount on the due date.
The exchange emphasized that users maintain control over their crypto holdings until settlement. It clarified that the system deducts Bitcoin only when the billing cycle closes. The company shared no timeline for adding other tokens to the repayment feature.
EPOS Card manages card issuance and payment processing under the partnership. Bitbank oversees crypto balance integration and reward distribution. Both companies said they will monitor customer response following the launch.
Bitbank positioned the product as a bridge between digital assets and routine transactions. It confirmed that customers can track spending and rewards through their accounts. The company released the announcement on Monday and opened applications immediately.
