Robinhood has added about $25 million in Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet as the financial services company expands its crypto business. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, disclosed the purchase during the Digital Asset Summit Asia on Wednesday. He said the move aligns the company with Bitcoin and the wider crypto sector. The company did not publicly state exactly when it completed the purchase. Kerbrat announced no further asset purchases during the interview.
Robinhood Builds Direct Bitcoin Exposure
Kerbrat said the Bitcoin position remains small compared with Robinhood’s size. The company has a market value near $100 billion, while its shares closed Tuesday at $112 after falling 1.85%. The purchase follows Robinhood’s recent expansion into crypto perpetual futures for U.S. users, covering assets such as Bitcoin and Ether.
The company has not disclosed whether it plans to buy more Bitcoin or add other tokens to its treasury. Robinhood joins a wider group of listed companies that hold Bitcoin directly. Strategy remains the largest corporate holder and reported another purchase this week, taking its total position to 848,000 BTC.
Crypto Products Expand Across the Platform
Robinhood has also increased its focus on blockchain products beyond direct crypto trading. The company launched Robinhood Chain in July using Arbitrum technology. The network supports tokenized stocks and other digital assets, while the Robinhood wallet gives users access across more than 120 countries.
The company has 28 million funded accounts, including about 27 million in the United States. Its wider crypto push also comes as investors track crypto-linked public companies for exposure to the sector. Robinhood’s network reached about $1.05 billion in total value locked as of Tuesday, according to The Block data.
Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Keep Growing
Robinhood enters the corporate Bitcoin market as several public companies continue adding BTC to their treasuries. Strategy bought another 334 BTC for about $28.7 million between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4. The latest Strategy Bitcoin purchase raised its holdings to 848,000 BTC.
Other public holders include Tesla, Block, MARA Holdings, CleanSpark and Riot Platforms. Robinhood’s $25 million position remains modest beside those larger treasuries. However, the purchase places Bitcoin directly on the company’s balance sheet while Robinhood continues building crypto trading, tokenization, and blockchain services for its global customer base.
