TLDR
- Pi Network set June 18 as the target date for its next protocol upgrade.
- The Core Team warned that the rollout could face delays similar to version 24.
- Version 24 missed its May 15 deadline due to subsystem upgrades and data reprocessing.
- The team confirmed that version 24 went live at the start of June.
- Mainnet node operators must update before June 18 to remain connected.
The Core Team confirmed a June 18 deadline for its next protocol upgrade, yet it warned the rollout could slip again. The announcement followed prior delays linked to technical complexity and internal data reprocessing. The team urged all Mainnet nodes to complete the update before the cutoff to remain connected.
Pi Network Upgrade Timeline Faces Another Test
Pi Network scheduled its latest protocol upgrade for June 18, according to a recent post on X. However, the team stated that the deployment could mirror prior delays. The notice addressed node operators directly and outlined technical readiness requirements.
The Pi Mainnet is upgrading to Protocol 25.
Deadline: June 18.All Mainnet nodes are required to complete this step before the deadline to remain connected to the network. This upgrade takes longer to complete. Plan accordingly.

Earlier this year, Pi Network began its upgrade cycle with version 19.6 in February. Subsequent releases included v19.9, v20.2, v22, and v23 as development continued. Most upgrades went live on time and maintained network continuity.
The transition to version 24 introduced new technical challenges for Pi Network. The team set May 15 as the deployment target. Yet, the deadline passed without implementation.
One week later, the Core Team explained the delay in a public update.
They described version 24 as “one of the most challenging” upgrades to date. They added that it “involved multiple subsystem upgrades and optimizations that required internal data reprocessing.”
Pi Network Mainnet Nodes Prepare for June 18 Rollout
At the start of June, Pi Network confirmed version 24 went live successfully. The team stated that engineers resolved the internal processing issues. They then announced June 18 as the deadline for the next release.
In the latest message, Pi Network instructed all Mainnet nodes to update before the stated date. The team said nodes must complete the process to remain connected. They emphasized that network participation depends on timely compliance.
However, Pi Network acknowledged the possibility of further delays. The team referenced the recent version 24 experience. They indicated that complex upgrades may require extended timelines.
The Core Team did not provide technical specifications for the upcoming release. Instead, they focused on operational readiness for Pi Network participants. They reiterated that nodes should monitor official communication channels.
Pi Network continues its structured protocol schedule despite ongoing questions from parts of its community. The team has maintained a sequence of version releases since February. Each update has aimed to refine subsystem performance and network stability.
The June 18 deadline now stands as the next milestone for Pi Network. The Core Team has not altered the target date as of the latest post. The network awaits confirmation of deployment once testing concludes.
