Lumentum (LITE) stock surged as much as 8.7% in premarket trading Wednesday, hitting $892, after the optical-networking company posted a blowout fiscal fourth quarter that topped estimates on every key metric.
Adjusted EPS came in at $3.23, up sharply from $0.88 a year ago and ahead of the $2.97 analyst consensus. Revenue soared 109% year-over-year to $1.01 billion, beating the Wall Street forecast of $988 million.
It was the company’s eighth consecutive quarter of top-line growth.

One of the standout moments of the report was the gross margin milestone. Non-GAAP gross margin crossed 50% for the first time, reaching 50.4%. The company had originally targeted that level at a higher revenue run rate, so it arrived ahead of schedule.
Adjusted operating margin hit 36.6%, up from 32.2% the prior quarter and 15% a year ago.
CEO Michael Hurlston pointed to record 800G transceiver shipments, early production of 1.6T modules, and strong order momentum in optical circuit switches as key drivers.
“Lumentum is positioned at the heart of a secular industry shift,” Hurlston said. “As AI compute workloads increase in both speed and bandwidth, data center architects are turning to optical links as a primary means of connectivity.”
Guidance Clears the Bar
Q1 FY2027 guidance was equally strong. Lumentum guided for revenue of $1.225 billion to $1.275 billion, with a midpoint of $1.25 billion. Analysts had penciled in $1.16 billion.
Adjusted EPS guidance of $4.05 to $4.35 also topped the consensus of $3.61.
Hurlston said demand for near-packaged optics remains strong, and co-packaged optics adoption is expected to ramp up late next year.
Sector Feels the Lift
The results rippled across the optical sector. Coherent (COHR) rose 5.4% in premarket trading. Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) added 3.8%.
LITE stock has now gained 586% over the past 12 months. It got an extra boost last week after Reuters reported the FCC is developing plans to ban imports of Chinese optical transceivers.
Daniel O’Regan, managing director at Mizuho Securities, noted Tuesday that “the setup for optical stocks is a bit more challenging after last week’s historic run.”
Wednesday’s premarket move recovers a meaningful chunk of ground lost from LITE’s 52-week high of $1,085.68.
The premarket session also coincided with the release of the July 2026 U.S. CPI report, with the Nasdaq up 0.5%, giving a supportive backdrop for high-growth tech names.
