Apex provides trading and clearing infrastructure to hundreds of financial firms. Those firms serve tens of millions of investors, giving Gemini a major new distribution channel.
Under the arrangement, any brokerage offering crypto event contracts through Apex’s FCM would use Gemini for execution and clearing. The two companies may also explore other event contract categories like sports, economics, and financial markets on a non-exclusive basis.
The deal has not been finalized. Both firms said they expect to settle the details in the coming weeks.
How Gemini Built Its Prediction Market Business
Gemini entered the prediction markets space in December 2025 when Gemini Titan received a Designated Contract Market license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. In April 2026, another Gemini subsidiary, Gemini Olympus, received a Derivatives Clearing Organization license from the CFTC. That allowed Gemini to handle derivatives clearing and settlement in-house.
Since launch, Gemini Titan has recorded more than 225 million event contracts traded with over 27,000 cumulative traders. That said, Polymarket and Kalshi still dominate the prediction market space with tens of billions in monthly trading volume.
Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have described prediction markets as a core pillar of their long-term strategy. “Our thesis is that prediction markets will be as big or bigger than today’s capital markets,” the Winklevoss twins have said.
A Growing Relationship Between Gemini and Apex
This is not the first time Gemini and Apex have worked together. Apex Clearing serves as the custodian and clearing broker for Gemini’s zero-commission stock trading platform, which launched in July 2025 for certain US customers.
The new proposed deal would extend that relationship into derivatives and prediction markets.
Prediction markets are facing some legal pressure at the state level in the US. A Washington state judge recently ordered Kalshi to stop offering a range of event contracts in the state, ruling that federal commodities law does not override state gambling law.
Despite that pressure, Gemini appears committed to expanding its footprint in the space through partnerships like this one with Apex.
