TLDR
- SanDisk stock fell nearly 6% in premarket trading Monday, touching $1,542.06

- Sector peers Micron, Western Digital, Seagate, and SK Hynix all fell between 4% and 7%
- Nasdaq futures dropped 1.78% and S&P 500 futures fell 0.79% as tech stocks faced broad selling
- Analysts still hold a consensus Buy rating on SNDK with an average price target of $2,190.50
SanDisk stock dropped nearly 6% in premarket trading Monday, with the stock hitting $1,542.06. The move came as investors pulled back from memory and storage names following fresh concerns about AI hardware demand.
The trigger was DeepSeek’s V4.1 Flash model release. The new AI architecture showed it can run with far less High Bandwidth Memory and solid-state drive storage than previous generations. That raised a question investors did not want to sit with: what happens to long-term NAND flash demand if AI developers widely adopt this kind of efficiency?
That question drove a broad sector sell-off, not just a SanDisk story.
Memory Sector Takes a Hit
Micron fell around 5% in premarket. Western Digital and Seagate each dropped more than 4%. SK Hynix fell more than 7%. The uniform pressure across the memory complex makes clear this is a sector-wide concern, not a company-specific one.
SanDisk’s high beta means it tends to move more sharply than peers when sector sentiment turns. That amplified Monday’s decline relative to some of the other names.
The broader market was not helping either. Nasdaq futures dropped 1.78%, S&P 500 futures fell 0.79%. Technology stocks led the weakness as investors reassessed AI infrastructure spending after leading tech executives called for slowing AI development over safety concerns.
Technical Picture and Analyst View
From a technical standpoint, SanDisk is trading about 3.5% below its 20-day simple moving average of $1,602.13 and just below its 100-day SMA of $1,555.75. The stock remains well above its 200-day SMA of $1,033.67, which still sits 49.6% below current prices. The longer-term trend is intact, but near-term momentum has softened.
The RSI reads 52.52, a neutral reading that gives neither bulls nor bears a clear edge right now.
Key resistance sits near $1,696.50. Support to watch is around $1,416.50 if selling continues.
On the analyst side, sentiment remains positive. The consensus is a Buy rating with an average price target of $2,190.50. Mizuho kept its Outperform rating in August but trimmed its target to $1,875. RBC Capital raised its target to $1,600 while holding a Sector Perform rating. Wells Fargo lifted its target to $1,550 with an Equal-Weight rating.
Benzinga’s momentum score for SNDK sits at 99.9, reflecting strong longer-term performance, though its Value score of 11.12 points to a stock priced for growth rather than value.
Monday’s sell-off brings SNDK toward intermediate technical support after a strong run earlier in the year. The stock had been trading nearly 50% above its 200-day moving average heading into the session.
