SpaceX is preparing for one of its biggest tests yet. The company plans to launch its Starship rocket early Monday, aiming to reach orbit for the first time.

The launch window opens at 8:15 a.m. ET from Starbase, Texas. It runs for 75 minutes.
This is the 14th test flight of Starship. Thirteen earlier flights did not attempt orbit.
The Federal Aviation Administration approved the launch and reentry plan on September 26. SpaceX also completed a wet dress rehearsal on Thursday, running through launch steps without firing the engines.
What’s at Stake for This Flight
Flight 14 will attempt to deploy 26 new Starlink V3 satellites. These satellites are built at a SpaceX facility in Redmond, Washington.
The V3 satellites generate twice the power of earlier versions. They’re also larger and designed to transmit data faster to subscribers.
Starlink is currently SpaceX’s largest and only profitable business segment. The company runs about 11,000 active satellites, far ahead of rival Eutelsat OneWeb’s roughly 650.
CEO Elon Musk said in August that Starlink could eventually deliver most of the world’s internet in countries where SpaceX operates. That’s a big claim, but the numbers so far back up the ambition.
Starship also plays a role in SpaceX’s longer-term plans. The company is preparing the rocket for a major NASA test flight next year, tied to returning astronauts to the moon.
COO Gwynne Shotwell said this month that SpaceX also wants to put “AI compute satellites” into orbit starting in 2027.
SPCX Stock Performance
SPCX went public in June in the largest IPO on record, valuing the company near $2 trillion. The stock has swung wildly since then.
Shares currently trade above the $135 IPO price. They remain well below the June peak of $225.64, though.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp., SPCX
Over the past five sessions, SPCX has dropped about 3%. Investors have pointed to concerns over capital spending and overall valuation.
In premarket trading Monday, the stock was down 0.75% as the countdown to launch continued.
Wall Street analysts remain upbeat despite the recent pullback. Mizuho’s Brett Linzey reiterated a Buy rating with a $200 price target.
Linzey pointed to a new hosting deal that could generate about $1.11 billion per month at its high end. He said the deal adds visibility into demand for SpaceX’s computing capacity.
Bernstein’s Douglas Harned also kept a Buy rating, setting a $248 price target. Harned sees Starship reusability as central to SpaceX’s orbital data center ambitions.
He expects the company to demonstrate second-stage reuse sometime in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Overall, Wall Street rates SPCX a Moderate Buy. That’s based on 26 Buys, five Holds, and two Sells among covering analysts.
The average price target sits at $232.07. That would mark a 56% jump from current trading levels if reached.
For now, all eyes are on Starbase, Texas, and whether Flight 14 becomes the first Starship mission to reach orbit.
