Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has backed the Trueo prediction market as the platform prepares to move from Base to Ethereum. Buterin said he welcomed the migration and praised Trueo’s focus on decentralization, neutrality, and market resolution standards. He described the project as an alternative to platforms with corporate influence.
Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive.…

Trueo launched on Base in March 2025, when Ethereum mainnet fees remained higher, and several platform features were experimental. The team now says Ethereum offers broader integrations and a base for a permissionless, credible oracle and prediction market system.
Trueo Moves From Base to Ethereum
After the migration, Trueo plans to attract more liquidity and introduce a new version of its oracle system. The oracle verifies real-world events and determines how prediction markets settle. The move comes as South Korean scrutiny of Polymarket users has renewed attention on how prediction platforms operate across different legal systems.
Trueo co-founder Lumberg said Ethereum offers the best environment for a neutral oracle and prediction market platform. The team also said Base worked well during its early testing stage, but Ethereum better supports wider integrations, long-term adoption, and a mostly immutable design.
Market Resolution Becomes Key Focus
Trueo says its resolution model aims to provide clearer and more impartial decisions when outcomes face disputes. The platform argues that prediction markets need stronger processes as trading activity grows. Recent Polymarket sports market expansion also shows how prediction platforms continue moving into new areas and attracting audiences.
Buterin has supported prediction markets for years. He previously invested in Polymarket’s $70 million funding round in 2024. He has argued that financial losses can discourage inaccurate bets, while also warning that markets involving harmful events may create unwanted incentives.
Ethereum Migration Targets Wider Integration
Trueo also operates the True Yield Dollar, or TYD, a stablecoin. Trueo says USDC backs TYD. Users can earn rewards by holding TYD or using it in prediction market positions. The broader sector remains under scrutiny, including recent questions around Kalshi crypto trading volume, which the company disputed.
Polymarket and Kalshi control nearly 94% of monthly prediction market notional volume, according to Dune Analytics. Trueo remains much smaller, ranking 14th among onchain prediction markets with about $795,687 in total value locked, based on DefiLlama data.
