Oracle (ORCL) stock opened at $141.56 on Friday. That sits below its 50-day moving average of $146.35 and its 200-day average of $159.03.
A board member bought into the dip. Director Stephen Rusckowski purchased 25,000 of Oracle’s stock on Sept. 29 at prices from $138.96 to $139.74, about $3.5 million in total.
It was his first open-market purchase since joining the board nearly a year ago. Before that, his only additions were two restricted stock unit awards.
The buy ran through a living trust in his name. The trust held 25,390 of the stock, worth $3.6 million at Wednesday’s close of $143.56, and he owns another 60 directly.
Rusckowski is a former CEO and president of Quest Diagnostics. He first disclosed Oracle ownership on Nov. 18, 2025.
OpenAI Headlines Keep Driving the Stock
Oracle got a lift on Sept. 29 after a report put OpenAI’s annual recurring revenue near $70 billion. OpenAI is a key Oracle customer, so those numbers matter.
The stock gave some back on Thursday. A later report put OpenAI’s annualized revenue at roughly $50 billion, below the $68 billion figure that had been circulating.
The gap reportedly comes from measurement and accounting, not weaker demand. Still, the report renewed worries about Oracle’s reliance on a few large AI customers.
Other concerns are out there too. Reports say Oracle is seeking large private financing to buy AI chips, and options activity leaned toward bearish call spreads.
Mar Vista also disclosed that it exited its Oracle position. The firm said the rally had reduced its margin of safety.
Insider Sales, Analyst Views and Earnings
Other insiders have been sellers. They sold about $5.34 million of stock over the last 90 days, including CEO Michael Sicilia’s 22,562 on Sept. 22 at $151.59 under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plan.
Oracle reported earnings on Sept. 10. EPS came in at $1.92 against the $1.74 estimate, and revenue rose 29.6% to $19.34 billion.
The company guided second-quarter fiscal 2027 EPS to $1.85 to $1.93. It also declared a $0.50 quarterly dividend, payable Oct. 23 to holders of record on Oct. 9.
Mizuho added Oracle to its top picks with a $320 price target, citing demand for cloud infrastructure and AI services. Oracle is also trucking natural gas to keep data center construction moving, including its 2.45 gigawatt New Mexico project.
Valley Wealth Managers lifted its Oracle stake by 5.2% in the third quarter, bringing its holdings to 147,787, valued at about $20.3 million. Institutions own 42.44% of the company.
Oracle has a market cap of $428.03 billion and a P/E ratio of 22.19. Analysts rate it Moderate Buy on average, with a $251.72 consensus price target.
Chart Analysis
Oracle’s daily chart shows a stock that has steadied after its slide from the June peak. Since the $114.50 low in late July, price has made higher lows along a rising trendline. The latest close of $141.40 (up 4.21%) bounced off that line and a support zone near $135 to $140. Resistance sits at $150 to $155, then $172 to $180.

The RSI reads 48.18, which is neutral. The MACD is flat at about -1.74 and -1.77, so downside momentum is fading but there is no bullish crossover yet.
What to watch: A close below the trendline and $135 could open the door to $114.50, while holding above it keeps the higher-low structure intact. A move through $155 would be the first sign buyers are in control.
