Anthropic, the AI startup behind the Claude family of products, is in talks to raise up to $50 billion in a new funding round, according to the Financial Times. The round could value the company at roughly $900 billion before the money comes in.

If completed at that figure, Anthropic would surpass rival OpenAI in valuation terms. The round is expected to close within two months, the FT reported.
The company was valued at $380 billion as recently as February 2026. A jump to near $1 trillion would mark one of the fastest valuation rises for any private tech company.
Anthropic’s annualized revenue is expected to top $45 billion shortly. That is up fivefold from $9 billion at the end of last year.
Investor interest in the round includes firms such as Dragoneer Investment Group, General Catalyst, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, the FT said, citing people familiar with the matter.
Existing Backing From Amazon and Google
Anthropic has already secured large commitments from major tech companies. Google committed up to $40 billion at a $350 billion valuation, with $10 billion paid upfront and $30 billion tied to performance benchmarks.
Amazon invested $5 billion with an option to add up to $20 billion more over time. Both deals were struck at a $350 billion valuation, the same figure tied to the February funding round.
The fresh capital is aimed at expanding computing infrastructure. Demand for Anthropic’s products has grown quickly, and the company has said supply constraints are limiting its capacity.
Anthropic has also struck deals with Amazon Web Services, Google, and Broadcom to lock in long-term computing power.
Claude Code and Cowork Driving Growth
Much of the demand has been driven by Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI agent designed to speed up software writing. Bloomberg reported the product’s growth pushed the company to seek new capital quickly.
Anthropic’s Cowork agent, built for workers outside engineering roles, has also seen fast adoption, according to the company.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei and colleagues who left OpenAI. It has grown into one of the most closely watched AI companies in the world.
The company’s current talks reflect how fast investor appetite for AI infrastructure has grown. Anthropic is moving to meet that demand with one of the largest private fundraises on record.
The potential round would come as Anthropic continues to expand its deals with cloud providers to secure the computing power needed to run its models.
