Pony AI Stock Rises as Robotaxi Revenue Surges
Pony AI reported second-quarter revenue of $36.2 million, representing a 68.8% increase from the previous year. Robotaxi services generated $12.1 million, marking a 691.2% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, fare-charging revenue increased more than 800% as commercial Robotaxi operations expanded.
The company expanded its Robotaxi fleet to 1,975 vehicles by June 30. Furthermore, management plans to operate more than 3,500 Robotaxis by the end of 2026. All seventh-generation models from BAIC, GAC, and Toyota have entered daily commercial service.
PonyPilot registrations in China also exceeded 1.5 million by August 16. Pony AI expanded coverage in Guangzhou across several major districts and added more than 300 square kilometers. Shenzhen services also reached Bao’an International Airport, Shenzhen Bay Port, and Shekou Cruise Port.
Uber Robotaxi Agreement Strengthens Global Expansion
Pony AI also advanced its international strategy through several joint deployment agreements. Uber agreed to deploy more than 2,000 Pony AI Robotaxis across European markets. Meanwhile, international agreements under negotiation cover more than 4,000 Robotaxi vehicles.
The company continued working with Bolt and Stellantis to introduce Robotaxi services in Luxembourg. In Singapore, Pony AI launched public Robotaxi access through ComfortDelGro’s Zig application. Revenue from joint deployments across domestic and overseas markets increased from the previous quarter.
Pony AI uses its China operations as the foundation for further international expansion. Its joint deployment model allows partners to add vehicles while sharing deployment responsibilities. Furthermore, PonyWorld 2.0 helps the company enter new cities without matching fleet growth with engineering headcount.
Revenue Growth Improves Operating Leverage
Robotruck services generated $13.3 million during the second quarter, increasing 40% from one year earlier. Intelligent solutions revenue reached $10.8 million and remained broadly stable year over year. Together, these businesses helped total quarterly revenue increase sharply from $21.5 million.
Gross profit increased 83.4% to $6.4 million, while gross margin improved to 17.5%. Operating expenses rose 11.4% to $72.1 million, considerably slower than revenue growth. Consequently, the operating loss margin narrowed to 181.5% from 285.6% one year earlier.
Pony AI recorded a $45.4 million net loss, down 14.9% from the previous year’s quarter. However, cash and related investments remained substantial at about $1.39 billion by June 30. The expanding Robotaxi business and Uber agreement now provide the main growth drivers behind PONY stock’s rebound.
