Toyota Finance has opened applications for a ¥1 billion blockchain bond offering a 1.72% annual yield. The one-year security token bond starts at ¥100,000 and uses Toyota Wallet for direct applications. The structure removes the need for a securities account and brings distribution directly into Toyota’s financial ecosystem.
Toyota Finance Opens Direct Blockchain Bond Applications
Toyota Finance launched the offering with Toyota Financial Services, SMBC Group, and Japanese security token company BOOSTRY. Applications opened Tuesday through a dedicated page on the company’s official website. Toyota Finance will allocate the bonds through a lottery after receiving applications from eligible participants.
The security carries a one-year maturity and requires a minimum application of ¥100,000. Toyota Finance set the total issuance size at ¥1 billion and fixed the annual interest rate at 1.72%. BOOSTRY will provide the blockchain infrastructure used to manage the tokenized security.
Applicants can access the offering after installing the Toyota Wallet payment and mobility application. They can complete the process without opening a traditional securities account. Toyota Finance also removed the requirement for applicants to hold its TS CUBIC CARD.
Toyota Wallet Links Bond Ownership With Mobility Benefits
Toyota Wallet will serve as the main access point for the new blockchain-based financial product. Toyota Finance can manage applications, bondholder communications, and related services within the same digital system. This structure gives the company greater control over the customer experience throughout the bond term.
Eligible holders may receive Toyota Wallet QUICPay balances under conditions attached to the offering. These balances can support daily purchases through services available within the Toyota Wallet network. The company also included several benefits linked directly to Toyota’s automotive operations.
Available experiences include race-viewing tickets at Fuji Speedway and selected vehicle test drives. The test-drive program covers certain Lexus, GR, and Toyota classic vehicles. Toyota Finance designed these benefits to connect the financial product with Toyota’s wider mobility services.
Second Tokenized Bond Expands Toyota’s Blockchain Strategy
The latest issuance follows Toyota Finance’s first security token bond launched in March 2025. Securities companies distributed that earlier offering instead of Toyota handling sales directly. Strong participation encouraged the company to redesign the second issuance around a self-offering structure.
Toyota Finance said direct distribution allows closer integration between applications, ongoing communication, and benefit delivery. The model also removes several steps usually associated with purchasing securities through brokerage platforms. Toyota Wallet now acts as the central interface connecting the bond with payment and mobility services.
Toyota has also explored blockchain technology beyond corporate bond issuance during recent years. Toyota Blockchain Lab previously studied blockchain-based vehicle identities and digital mobility infrastructure using Avalanche technology. However, the current bond remains separate and relies on BOOSTRY for its security token infrastructure.
