TLDR
- NEAR AI reported more than 1 million NEAR staked, with rewards paying for AI inference while users keep their tokens.
- NEAR gained over 11% in 24 hours after a Bitwise Q3 volume report and a new governance proposal.
- The proposal would cut token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months.
- Bitwise’s Spot NEAR ETF saw its first outflow, $2.54 million, since its Sept. 29 launch.
- NEAR faces resistance at $5.50, and support sits at $4.50.
NEAR AI reported that more than 1 million NEAR is now staked with its service. Users can put the staking rewards toward AI inference while keeping their underlying tokens. NEAR AI posted the update on X on Oct. 21.

“Stake yours to pay for your AI. The NEAR stays yours,” NEAR AI wrote. NEAR Protocol repeated the figure minutes later.
The price rose alongside the news. NEAR gained over 11% in 24 hours and moved back above $5. The wider crypto market added 2.69% to its capitalization in the same period.
What Is Driving the Price
Bitwise released a Q3 report on NEAR Intents. Monthly volume grew from $2.40 billion in July to $4.80 billion in September. Total Q3 volume reached $10.41 billion, up more than 66% from the prior quarter.
A new governance proposal is also up for a vote in the House of Stake. It would cut issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over the next 24 months. The goal is to reduce token dilution.
Spot ETF flows turned negative. According to SoSoValue, Bitwise’s Spot NEAR ETF (NRR) recorded a $2.54 million outflow in 24 hours. It was the first outflow since the fund launched on Sept. 29, and cumulative flows had stood at $85.56 million.
Analyst Rekt Capital said NEAR continues to move sideways inside a macro range between $3.79 and $5.97. He noted that NEAR retested its macro downtrend as support. He added that after such a run, NEAR would benefit from more consolidation in that range to cool off some overextended metrics.

On the daily chart, the Stochastic Momentum Index read 53. The Choppiness Index fell to 51. Resistance at $5.50 has been tested more than five times over the past month.
On the NEAR/USDT chart, bulls keep running into the $5.50 ceiling. Price is pressing the line again, but a clean daily close above it has not happened yet. Support at $4.50 is the level that keeps the structure bullish. Watch whether NEAR can close a daily candle above $5.50.
How NEAR AI Staking Works
NEAR AI’s documentation says the service converts staking yield into computing credits. Credits build each second, and unused balances carry forward. One credit equals one US dollar of platform usage. Unstaking stops new credits from building.

The budget depends on the amount staked, NEAR’s price and the staking APY. Validator commissions typically run from 1% to 10%. NEAR AI offers a calculator to estimate the stake needed for a monthly allowance.
Agent hosting uses a separate formula. The amount staked is divided by 100 to set a monthly dollar budget, so 500 NEAR generates $5 in credits. A minimum of 50 NEAR is needed to activate a first agent.
NEAR AI also lists pay-as-you-go prices, updated Oct. 21. GLM 5.3 Flash costs $0.08 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens. Qwen 3.8 27B costs $0.04 per million input tokens and $1.35 per million output tokens.
On Oct. 3, NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin outlined 13 application ideas, including NFT-based digital pets that carry NEAR balances to pay for inference. NEAR AI’s latest figure shows more than 1 million NEAR staked.
