Costs Fall as Billings Begin

General and administrative costs declined to $18.5 million from $22.9 million. Small cuts, but they add up.
Customer billings reached $9.8 million. That included the first billings under the Honda agreement.
The advanced solutions business also recorded its first billings, serving defense and aerospace customers. QuantumScape has started shipping QSE-5 sample cells to these markets.
The company ended the quarter with $819.8 million in liquidity. It kept its 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss forecast at $250 million to $275 million.
Full-year capital spending is expected to range from $27 million to $37 million. The company is still spending well ahead of its revenue.
New 100-MWh Line Targets AI Data Centers
QuantumScape plans a 100-megawatt-hour production line with Germany’s Muehlbauer Group. Muehlbauer will supply cell-assembly equipment, and production is targeted to start in 2028.
The line is aimed at AI data centers, aerospace and defense rather than carmakers. Equipment costs are expected to stay below $100 million.
QuantumScape is seeking funding that would not require selling new stock. That detail will matter to anyone worried about dilution.
The plan builds on the Eagle Line pilot facility in San Jose, which is making a growing number of QSE-5 cells for customers. Muehlbauer reviewed the site and suggested design changes for a more productive setup.
Muehlbauer CEO Josef Markus Mühlbauer said, “The Eagle Line proved to us that QuantumScape’s solid-state technology is ready to scale to the next level.” The QS PowerBlock, built to fit inside data center racks, uses the QSE-5 cells.
Wall Street rates QS a Hold, based on three Hold ratings in the past three months. The average price target is $6.83, which implies about 72% upside.
