Amkor Technology stock jumped 12.2% to $73.30 in after-hours trading Thursday after the company announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Nvidia worth $1.5 billion. The stock had closed the regular session at $65.33, down 2.45%.
Under the deal, Nvidia will provide a prepayment to support the build-out of Amkor’s advanced packaging and test operations in the United States, with a focus on its Arizona facility.
The two companies will align their long-term technology roadmaps, targeting high-density interconnects and next-generation heterogeneous chip integration — capabilities that are increasingly critical as AI chip demand continues to outpace supply.

Amkor CEO Kevin Engel said: “This strategic partnership with NVIDIA underscores the central role advanced packaging plays in enabling the future of AI.”
This is not a new relationship. Amkor has been a longstanding supplier of advanced packaging for Nvidia’s data center processors. But this deal significantly expands that collaboration.
The announcement also follows Amkor’s June 2026 agreement — a 10-year deal with TSMC for advanced packaging in Arizona. That deal, combined with the Nvidia partnership, marks a clear shift for Amkor from a traditional outsourced semiconductor assembly provider to a strategic AI infrastructure partner.
Earnings Due Monday
Amkor is scheduled to release its Q2 2026 results after market close on Monday, July 27. In Q1, the company beat on both revenue and EPS — revenue came in 1.98% above estimates and EPS topped forecasts by 37.50%.
The Nvidia deal adds meaningful revenue visibility heading into that report.
Analyst Take
B. Riley Securities maintained a Neutral rating on Amkor Wednesday but lowered its price target from $90 to $75. That target is now sitting just above Thursday’s after-hours price of $73.30.
Amkor has a market cap of $16.19 billion. Its 52-week range runs from $20.87 to a high of $96.66. The stock has gained 203.58% over the past 12 months.
The RSI stands at 43.11, and the stock is currently sitting at 58.66% of its 52-week trading range.
The broader market was muted Thursday, with the S&P 500 up 0.2%, the Dow up 0.5%, and the Nasdaq up 0.2% — none of which explains the scale of Amkor’s move.
The Nvidia prepayment deal provides both revenue certainty and strategic validation for Amkor’s U.S. expansion push ahead of Monday’s earnings report.
