Baidu (BIDU) shares expanded its autonomous driving business in Dubai by launching fully driverless Apollo Go rides through Uber. The service gives riders another route to access autonomous vehicles across selected parts of the city. Meanwhile, Baidu stock closed 2.20% higher at $92.87 before easing 0.13% to $92.75 pre-market.
Baidu Brings Apollo Go Driverless Rides to Uber
Apollo Go vehicles are now available through Uber in selected areas of Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah. New Horizon Luxury Transport operates the fleet supporting the initial service across those locations. Dubai becomes the first market under Baidu and Uber’s broader autonomous vehicle partnership.
Riders can receive Apollo Go vehicles when booking eligible UberX or Uber Comfort trips. Alternatively, users can select the Autonomous option directly within the Uber application. The service operates without a safety driver inside vehicles assigned to participating trips.
Baidu plans to expand the available operating territory as deployment progresses across Dubai. The launch also supports the companies’ multi-year agreement covering several international markets. Under that agreement, Baidu and Uber plan to deploy thousands of Apollo Go vehicles globally.
Dubai Expands Baidu’s International Autonomous Driving Strategy
Dubai has become an important international market for Baidu’s Apollo Go autonomous transportation business. Apollo Go started offering commercial driverless rides through its own application there in March 2026. Consequently, riders can now access the service through both Apollo Go and Uber.
The March launch followed regulatory progress achieved earlier during Baidu’s expansion into Dubai. In January 2026, Apollo Go received Dubai’s first driverless testing permit without a safety driver. That approval created the foundation for later commercial operations using fully autonomous vehicles.
The latest Uber integration gives Baidu another distribution channel for its autonomous driving technology. At the same time, Uber gains additional vehicle supply from an established autonomous mobility operator. The arrangement combines Baidu’s driving systems with Uber’s existing ride-hailing network.
Apollo Go Builds Scale Across Global Markets
Baidu and Uber first announced their autonomous vehicle partnership in July 2025. The agreement targets large-scale Apollo Go deployment through Uber across several global markets. Both companies expect the program to increase access to reliable and lower-cost ride services.
Apollo Go has expanded into 28 cities as Baidu grows its autonomous transportation footprint. Its vehicles have completed more than 350 million autonomous kilometers across existing operations. Fully driverless vehicles account for more than 240 million kilometers within that total distance.
Baidu also reported a strong safety record from its fully autonomous fleet. By June, vehicles averaged roughly one airbag deployment every 14.4 million kilometers. Therefore, the Dubai expansion adds another operational market to Baidu’s growing international autonomous driving network.
