Chainlink has launched a new product called Chainlink for Agents. It is designed to give autonomous AI agents the tools they need to operate onchain safely and reliably.

The system gives agents access to verified market data, cross-chain bridging, and secure execution. The goal is to remove the infrastructure complexity that currently slows down AI agent development in the crypto space.
Chainlink describes it as the verified data, execution, and cross-chain layer for the agentic economy.
How the Technology Works
At the core of the system is the Chainlink Runtime Environment, known as CRE. It acts as an orchestration layer that connects offchain AI reasoning with onchain smart contract execution.
CRE also handles gas fee management and error handling, which are two common pain points for developers building onchain agents.
For data, agents tap into Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams. These provide tamper-proof market metrics and low-latency price information so agents can make decisions based on objective data.
Cross-chain functionality is powered by Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. This allows an agent running on one blockchain network to access funds or run logic on another network entirely.
Chainlink Confidential Compute is also part of the stack. It keeps sensitive corporate or trading data private while still allowing automated instructions to be executed.
Use Cases and Developer Tools
One of the flagship use cases is yield optimization. An agent can scan verified rates across multiple chains, bridge assets to the highest-yielding chain via CCIP, and deposit into a protocol like Aave, all without human input.
Agents can also be used for autonomous trading strategies, cross-chain token swaps, and paying for compute resources directly from a crypto wallet.
For developers, Chainlink has released a skills library. It works with AI coding tools and lets builders create agent workflows using standard Skill.md files.
The product supports any agent framework that uses those files. At launch, compatible frameworks include OpenClaw, Hermes, Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenAI’s Codex.
Developers can get started by running a single terminal command to install the Chainlink for Agents skill package.
Native agent payments are handled through x402 pay-per-call requests, giving agents direct access to Chainlink-powered workflows without additional setup.
Chainlink positions the product as foundational infrastructure for what it calls the “agentic economy,” where software agents autonomously transact and interact with decentralized applications.
