Cypherpunk Builds the Largest Zcash Mining Fleet
Cypherpunk Mining now operates approximately 4.2 GSol/s of Equihash computing power across facilities in the United States. The deployed equipment represents about 18% of the total Zcash network hashrate. Cypherpunk says the operation now ranks as the network’s largest active mining fleet.
The company acquired latest-generation Z15 Pro mining machines and related hosting agreements through the transaction. Cypherpunk Mining purchased the assets from Moria Mining and Winklevoss Treasury Investments. The fleet became operational immediately after the companies completed the agreement.
Cypherpunk paid $33.33 million through a pre-funded warrant issued to Winklevoss Treasury Investments. The warrant covers 43,290,042 common shares and carries a $0.001 exercise price per share. The transaction reflects an underlying common share purchase price of $0.77.
Zcash Mining Expands Cypherpunk’s Treasury Strategy
The mining business adds another source of ZEC to Cypherpunk’s existing digital asset treasury. Cypherpunk currently holds 323,394.38 ZEC, representing about 1.92% of circulating supply. The company aims to eventually control 5% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply.
Zcash distributes approximately 43,800 ZEC to miners each month through network block rewards. Therefore, direct mining could help Cypherpunk increase its holdings without relying entirely on market purchases. The company expects production costs to remain below current spot acquisition costs.
Cypherpunk also maintains exposure to privacy infrastructure through its investment strategy involving ZODL. The wallet forms another component of the company’s wider focus on privacy-based technology. Together, mining, treasury holdings, and technology investments broaden Cypherpunk’s participation across the Zcash ecosystem.
Mining Expansion Adds Operational Scale and Network Exposure
Cypherpunk estimates the Zcash mining market exceeds $250 million annually at current ZEC prices. Its mining facilities operate across the United States under existing hosting arrangements. The company also expects mining revenue to support future technology investments and additional ZEC purchases.
Kevin Zhang has joined Cypherpunk as Head of Mining following the fleet acquisition. Zhang has worked across Bitcoin and Zcash mining operations for more than a decade. Previously, he helped develop large North American mining facilities and managed major mining infrastructure at Foundry.
The transaction also strengthens Cypherpunk’s connection with the broader Zcash network and mining sector. Greater deployed hashrate adds computing resources that support transaction processing and network security. Cypherpunk plans to connect miners, developers, and privacy-focused projects as its Zcash operations expand
