MoneyGram is expanding its digital payments strategy through Solana as it links crypto wallets with its global cash network. The remittance company says the service gives users a simple way to move between stablecoins and physical cash. The move expands Solana’s role in stablecoin payments.
MoneyGram and Solana Expand Cash Access
MoneyGram CEO Anthony Soohoo said the company wants to connect digital finance with everyday payment needs. Users can access cash services through about 500,000 retail locations across its international network.

The Solana integration allows supported wallet users to convert stablecoins into cash at participating MoneyGram locations. Soohoo said access remains the main focus as digital payment services reach more users.
MoneyGram also plans to open its payment infrastructure to developers building digital finance products. Soohoo said developers could use the company’s network to support cash deposits and withdrawals inside their applications.
The company is still rolling out its developer tools. Its wider plan is to let payment firms connect digital services with physical locations without building their own cash networks.
Blockchain Strategy Moves Beyond Earlier Partnerships
MoneyGram began a broader blockchain strategy after its planned deal with Ripple ended. In 2021, the company partnered with the Stellar Development Foundation to connect blockchain payments with its remittance services.
The company expanded that strategy in June by launching MGUSD, a dollar-linked stablecoin. MoneyGram worked with Bridge, Crossmint, Fireblocks, M0 and Stellar on the supporting infrastructure for the product.
MoneyGram Ramps launched on Solana earlier this month and added another route between digital assets and cash. Rift became the first Solana wallet to integrate the service.
The launch gives Solana developers access to MoneyGram’s retail network through supported tools. MoneyGram says the model can support wider payment access as more wallets and applications connect to its cash services.
