This incident is separate from an earlier one. Revolut had already reported a breach earlier in September involving a fake government email domain.
The new breach involves DriveWealth. DriveWealth is a US broker that handles stock trading services for some Revolut customers.
What Happened at DriveWealth
DriveWealth provides execution and clearing services for Revolut users who use the optional US stock trading feature. The company holds customer data to process trades and meet US regulatory rules.
An unauthorized party accessed Revolut customer data stored on DriveWealth’s systems. DriveWealth confirmed the attack happened on September 4 and 5.
The breach resulted from a social engineering attack. This type of attack tricks people into giving up sensitive information rather than exploiting a software bug.
DriveWealth has reached out directly to affected customers. Revolut also sent its own follow-up emails to explain the situation.
What Data Was Exposed
The exposed data covers historical customer records. This includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses.
Employment information was also involved. So was data like country of citizenship, age, and gender.
Partial DriveWealth account numbers were exposed as well. Revolut said full account details were not included.
Revolut stressed that its own systems were not accessed or compromised. Customer funds and investments remain safe, according to the company.
No Revolut passwords, passcodes, card details, or ID documents were exposed in this incident. That separates it from the earlier September breach, which did involve identity documents.
The earlier breach affected roughly 680 customers globally. Attackers had used a legitimate Italian government email domain to trick Revolut into releasing data.
Who Is Affected
The impact varies by region and by when Revolut changed its stock trading model. Those changes rolled out between December 2023 and June 2025, depending on the market.
Customers in the EEA, including Ireland, were the first affected by the changes. Revolut stopped sharing customer data with DriveWealth for these markets after December 2023.
This means EEA customers have not had data shared with DriveWealth since that date. Only historical records from before the change are involved.
In the US, the incident relates to customers who have used the US stock trading feature. Revolut said customers who did not receive a direct email from DriveWealth are not affected.
The breach also reached other platforms. Stake and Hatch, two other services that use DriveWealth’s infrastructure, confirmed similar exposure.
Neither Revolut nor DriveWealth has released exact numbers of affected customers. Revolut serves about 3.4 million customers in Ireland alone.
Revolut is advising affected users to watch for phishing attempts. Customers with concerns can contact Revolut through official channels.
This marks the second data incident tied to Revolut in a single month. Both cases involved third-party providers rather than Revolut’s own systems.
