Payments will work in stores and online through a Visa credential created behind the scenes. Users will not need to sell or move their assets first.
Mesh will handle funding and conversion at the moment of payment. Balances can come from crypto, stablecoin or fiat.
Merchants will keep getting paid through Visa’s existing network. They will not need new hardware or changes to checkout.
How the Visa and Mesh service will work
Merchants will not receive crypto directly. Mesh does the conversion so the payment clears on the regular card network.
Wallet providers can switch on the service through one Mesh integration. Mesh will act as program manager and run onboarding and know your customer checks.
Mesh CEO Bam Azizi said crypto “never had a spending problem, it has a last-mile problem.” He said the old fix was getting a separate card.
Visa’s global head of growth, Rubail Birwadker, said the deal gives consumers more ways to use digital asset balances. The service covers more than 200 countries and territories.
Visa processed $14.2 trillion in payment volume in fiscal 2025. The companies gave no launch date.
Visa’s stablecoin push and Mesh’s growth
Visa said more than 160 stablecoin card programs were running in its fiscal second quarter of 2026. Payment volume across them rose nearly 200% from a year earlier.
Its stablecoin settlement business passed an annualized rate of $20 billion. An October update showed card payments still growing at about 200% a year.
Earlier this year, Visa teamed up with Mercuryo to convert crypto to fiat and send it to cards. It also signed an exploratory deal with ADI Foundation in October.
Mesh raised $75 million in a Series C in January, valuing it at $1 billion. It joined Paxos’s Global Dollar Network in May and launched its Alliance Program in June.
Bybit Pay also plugged into Mesh in September. Bybit says it serves about 80 million users.
Crypto.com estimated 774 million crypto owners worldwide by June. Spending is still small, with crypto card volume near $1.5 billion a month late in 2025.
Paymentscan data showed stablecoin card spending passed $10.9 billion by August 2026. July topped $1 billion, a record at the time.
Mesh has not said which coins will be eligible. Supported devices, wallets and the start date are still pending, and Mesh said it will announce them as rollout plans are finalized.
