XRP and Solana are two of the largest cryptocurrencies, but they serve different purposes. XRP is tied to payments, while Solana supports trading and applications.
On October 26, 2026, XRP traded near $1.29 and Solana traded around $101. XRP has a market value of about $82 billion, compared with about $60 billion for Solana.
XRP Adds Payment Partnerships and Tokenized Funds
XRP is closely linked to cross-border payments and tokenized financial assets. The XRP Ledger supports fast settlement and Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD.

Using RLUSD does not necessarily require buying XRP. Ripple works with regulated financial institutions on these services.
On October 22, Ripple and payments company Arf announced plans to provide RLUSD settlement liquidity to licensed cross-border payment businesses. Future native lending depends on protocol activation.
Aviva Investors has also expanded its tokenized money-market fund offerings on the XRP Ledger. Assets tokenized on the ledger are not the same as money invested directly in XRP.
In August 2025, the SEC dismissed its appeal in the case against Ripple. That ended the civil enforcement action, though the existing penalty and injunction remain in place.
XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, with about 63 billion in circulation. Ripple still holds a large amount in escrow, and many scheduled releases are locked again afterward.
Solana Leads in Network Activity and Upgrades
DeFiLlama data for October 26 shows Solana with about $5.7 billion in decentralized finance total value locked. It also shows $15.6 billion in stablecoins on the network.

The XRP Ledger shows roughly $39 million in decentralized finance value and $1.1 billion in stablecoins. These figures do not capture all enterprise payment activity on the ledger.
Decentralized exchange volume shows a similar gap. Solana recorded about $1.2 billion over 24 hours, compared with about $5 million on the XRP Ledger.
Solana activated its Alpenglow consensus upgrade on October 21. The upgrade targets transaction finality of about 150 milliseconds.
The two assets also differ in supply design. XRP has a fixed maximum supply, while Solana issues new tokens through staking rewards and has no fixed cap.
Both tokens have US-listed spot exchange-traded funds. Flow data covers the trading week ending October 23.
About $17 million left Solana products that week. About $4 million flowed into XRP products.
XRP’s market value of about $82 billion remains above Solana’s roughly $60 billion. Solana’s DeFi value, stablecoin supply and exchange volume were all higher on October 26.
