Unusual Machines stock jumped 14.6% in pre-market trading on Friday, reaching $31.21, after President Trump signed a proclamation on Thursday evening imposing steep tariffs on imported unmanned aircraft systems.
The order sets a 100% ad valorem tariff on heavier industrial and military-grade drones, specifically those over 25 kilograms or equipped with thermal imaging, along with their docking stations and hardware. Smaller commercial drones face a 25% levy. The EU and U.K. receive preferential rates of 15% and 10% respectively.
The tariffs take effect in 21 days.

The policy directly targets the dominant foreign presence in the U.S. drone market, particularly Chinese manufacturers, and is designed to push demand toward domestic producers.
As a maker of NDAA-compliant drone components built in the United States, UMAC is positioned to pick up demand that foreign suppliers can no longer competitively meet.
Strong Earnings Already in Place
The tariff news landed on top of an already strong earnings print. UMAC reported Q2 revenue of $16.7 million, crushing the consensus estimate of $9.19 million. That represents 687% growth year-over-year.
Maxim had already raised its price target on UMAC to $30, and Piper Sandler issued a bullish endorsement just days before Thursday’s tariff announcement.
The stock moved toward its 52-week high of $34.36 in pre-market activity.
Sector Rally and Valuation Picture
The tariff announcement triggered a broader rally across U.S. drone names. Red Cat Holdings, Ondas Holdings, and AeroVironment all rose in sympathy. The S&P 500 added 0.1% and the Nasdaq gained 0.2% on the day, meaning UMAC’s move was driven by sector-specific catalysts rather than a broad market lift.
UMAC currently trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 37.99, more than double its historical median of 17.5. The company remains unprofitable, with a trailing EPS of -$0.26 and operating margins at -93.52%.
The GF Score stands at just 12 out of 100, reflecting weak profitability and momentum, though financial strength is rated 8 out of 10. The company carries a current ratio of 53.82 and a debt-to-equity ratio of just 0.01.
Three institutional gurus have added to positions recently, while insider activity shows seven selling transactions totaling $7.5 million over the past three months with no insider buying.
UMAC holds a market cap of $1.36 billion and is listed on the AMEX exchange.
