The app beat out several well-known competitors. OpenAI’s ChatGPT sits at No. 2, Google Gemini ranks No. 8, and Anthropic’s Claude comes in at No. 13. SpaceXAI’s Grok lands at No. 32 and Microsoft Copilot ranks No. 64.
Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang confirmed the milestone in a post on X on Friday. “A week after launch, Muse is now the No. 1 app in the App Store!” he wrote.
What Makes Muse Different From a Chatbot
Unlike a standard chatbot, Muse is built to take action on a user’s behalf. It can send emails, book travel, fill out forms, buy items online, and even find a dog sitter.
Meta says anyone can use it without technical experience. Once a user sets a goal, Muse builds a plan and starts working toward it on its own.
The app can keep running in the background even after it has been closed. Before taking sensitive actions, it checks in with the user for approval.
Muse also remembers user preferences over time, which allows it to get more personalized with repeated use.
Services and Integrations
Muse connects to a range of third-party services. These include Spotify, Instagram, OpenTable, and the user’s email and calendar apps.
The app can negotiate on a user’s behalf, open a browser, and coordinate time and resources to help reach bigger goals, according to Meta.
