Nvidia (NVDA) stock closed at $216.00 on Monday, up 2.39%. It was little changed before the open Tuesday, near $215.95.
The chip maker said late Monday it will invest $3 billion in Meta Platforms’ (META) recent stock offering. Meta stock fell 1.88% in the last session and was flat in premarket trading.
Nvidia has mostly backed smaller AI start-ups and hardware suppliers. This deal is different, because Meta is a huge customer that could likely raise the money without help.
$NVDA will invest $3 billion in $META's equity offering.
Meta plans to increase deployments of NVIDIA Vera Rubin systems and Vera CPUs, along with Spectrum-X networking and BlueField-4, to support its next-generation AI agents.

Still, there is a reason behind the move. Meta’s Muse AI models have caught on fast.
What Meta Gets From the Deal
Meta will expand its use of Nvidia hardware in its data centers. That includes Vera Rubin and Vera CPUs to power its AI agents, plus Nvidia’s networking technology.
The two companies will also work on training and inference performance for the Muse models. They said they are considering other technology projects together.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the companies are expanding their partnership to optimize computing for “capable, efficient and secure AI agents.”
The Muse agent app became one of the most downloaded apps within a week of its launch. Users have given it a warm welcome.
Meta also upsized its common stock offering to $25 billion from $22.5 billion. Paired with a depository offering, the total could reach $37.5 billion.
The common stock priced at $625 per share. The depository offering priced at $50 per share.
The money is aimed mainly at Meta’s AI infrastructure buildout. Meta also plans a separate $60 billion non-voting stock offering in 2027.
Why Broadcom and AMD Matter
Meta builds custom chips with Broadcom (AVGO). Nvidia may want to protect its business with Meta, and a stake is one way to do it.
Broadcom CEO Hock Tan serves as a strategic advisor to Meta’s board. That is a close tie.
Meta has disclosed that Broadcom and AMD (AMD) both showed interest in joining the offering. So Nvidia will not get an exclusive deal like the one it has with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Call it a crowded table. Every chip supplier wants a seat.
On Monday, Broadcom rose 2.33% and AMD gained 2.80%.
Broadcom was up 1.2% in premarket trading Tuesday.
