Binance Breach Sparks Sell-Off
The latest decline follows reports of a security breach affecting about $6.3 billion in assets at Binance. Reuters reported that Chainalysis found at least $5.9 billion in stolen assets.
Binance and its partners have frozen roughly $3 billion. The news led to selling across Bitcoin, Ethereum and several large altcoins.
CoinDesk reported that about $1.5 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated. Around $358 million of that came from Ethereum.
Geoffrey Kendrick, head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered, said prices could stay under pressure until more details emerge about the breach and the frozen funds.
The Federal Reserve held interest rates at 3.75%–4.00% on October 28. Two policymakers favored an increase.
ETF Outflows Continue
US spot Ethereum ETFs recorded a fourth straight day of withdrawals. Farside Investors data shows $105.5 million left the funds on October 29.
That followed outflows of $21.4 million on October 28 and $60.2 million on October 27. BlackRock’s ETHA lost $71.7 million on Thursday, while its ETHB fund lost $15.6 million.
Combined outflows from October 26 to October 29 reached about $275.7 million.
On-chain data shows trading activity rising despite lower prices. DefiLlama reported about 1.76 million daily transactions and 448,638 active addresses on October 30.
Decentralized exchange volume hit $7.29 billion over 24 hours. Total value locked in Ethereum DeFi protocols fell 6.59% to about $43.26 billion.
On the daily chart, Ethereum has dropped below the ascending trendline drawn from June’s recovery from about $1,500. The break follows repeated failures to reclaim the $2,400–$2,450 zone.

Immediate support sits at $2,200 and $2,175. Below that, traders are watching $2,100 and $2,000, with a wider demand zone between $1,850 and $1,970.
On the upside, ETH needs to retake $2,300–$2,350, where the broken trendline may act as resistance. A move above $2,450 could open the way toward $2,600.
The RSI stands at 29.81, just inside oversold territory. The MACD line is at -69.34, below its signal line at -56.58.
The October 30 daily candle has not yet closed.
