The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Sky News described it as representing a “significant sum,” though neither Intel nor McLaren has confirmed specifics.
Under the agreement, Intel will supply its Xeon processors and Core Ultra processors to support McLaren’s operations. Those chips will be put to work on vehicle-dynamics simulation and race strategy analytics — the kind of compute-heavy work that shapes what happens on track.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown spoke directly to the tech angle. “Performance in IndyCar and Formula 1 racing is driven by technology, and partnering with Intel strengthens our ability to innovate at scale,” he said.
Beyond F1
The deal stretches beyond the Formula One grid. Intel will also partner with the Arrow McLaren IndyCar team, extending the relationship into American open-wheel racing.
There’s a gaming angle too. Intel will become the official gaming partner of the McLaren F1 Sim Racing esports team, with its branding placed on the Sim Racing car and team apparel.
That gives Intel visibility across three distinct racing programs — F1, IndyCar, and esports — under a single partnership structure.
Intel’s Chip Line in the Spotlight
Intel stock (INTC) was down around 0.27% at the time of the announcement. The company has been working to rebuild its standing in the processor market, and the McLaren deal puts its hardware in front of a global motorsport audience.
The Xeon line targets data center and workstation performance, while the Core Ultra series covers high-performance consumer and professional computing. Deploying both within a racing team’s technical operation gives Intel a functional showcase, not just a branding play.
McLaren is currently one of the more competitive teams in the F1 grid. The team has been building momentum in recent seasons, which adds some weight to the association for Intel’s image.
The Arrow McLaren IndyCar team competes in the NTT IndyCar Series, giving the partnership a second high-profile racing stage in North America.
