Meta stock fell 8% over the past two trading days. The drop follows a rally that pushed shares up 25% this month. The stock was pointing about 0.5% higher ahead of Tuesday’s open.
The gains came from strong early demand for Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent. Muse has topped free app charts in the United States and Canada in recent weeks. Sensor Tower estimates the app logged about 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks.
Meta is now pushing Muse further. The company rolled out Muse for Small Business on Tuesday. It’s built to help owners manage operations and find new customers.
The new version connects with Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe and Canva. It also links to Instagram professional accounts, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts.
Muse Adds More Business Tools
Muse for Small Business also connects to Asana, Box, Dropbox, Figma, Klaviyo, Notion, Slack and Zoom. That gives it reach into a company’s brand, storefront, financial records and customer data.
Meta said Muse won’t publish content, send messages or make purchases without a user’s approval. Business owners keep the final say on what the agent does.
Muse remains free for most uses. Meta plans subscription tiers for users who want extra features down the line.
The push is part of Meta’s broader effort to diversify revenue beyond advertising. Muse sits at the center of that plan.
OpenAI’s Developer Conference
Attention now shifts to OpenAI’s developer conference, happening today. CEO Sam Altman is set to deliver a keynote at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
OpenAI is expected to unveil an always-on assistant. A report from Testing Catalog says it could be called “O.” OpenAI didn’t respond to a request for comment on that report.
An always-on assistant would go head to head with Muse. Investors will be watching closely to see which one wins users over.
OpenAI also confirmed Tuesday that it’s scrapping its latest AI model. The company pointed to safety concerns as the reason.
That news adds a fresh twist just hours before Altman takes the stage. It’s a reminder that the AI agent race moves fast, and not always in a straight line.
Meta’s stock is still up 25% for September despite the recent slide. The company is banking on Muse’s business expansion to keep that streak alive.
