Microsoft’s venture unit M12 is supporting the public rollout of Dreamspace on Coinbase’s Base Layer 2. The platform lets users describe an app idea and then generates a working product with smart contracts. Space and Time secures the data layer beneath the builder, while users have already created more than 34,000 apps.
Microsoft, Space, and Time Power Dreamspace Infrastructure
Microsoft’s venture arm M12 is backing the wider release of Dreamspace on Base Layer 2. The company supports the rollout as the builder exits beta testing. Dreamspace allows users to describe an app idea and receive a working product with smart contract logic.
The platform runs on Base, which Coinbase operates as a Layer 2 network. Space and Time secures the underlying data infrastructure for the builder. Microsoft led a $20 million investment in Space and Time in 2022.
Space and Time co-founder Nate Holiday outlined the platform’s goal in a statement. He said, “Space and Time was built to make verifiable data accessible to any application, at any scale.” He added, “Dreamspace is where that infrastructure meets the people building the next wave of the internet.”
Holiday also explained how the system reduces technical barriers for developers. He said, “When the data layer handles itself, the only thing left to focus on is what you want to create.” The company uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify and index stored information.
Space and Time distributes that data across a decentralized network of database validators. This structure supports secure storage and transparent verification. Last year, Microsoft Fabric integrated Space and Time’s data feeds.
Base Ecosystem Expands with AI-driven App Builders
Dreamspace joins other blockchain-based builders operating within the Base ecosystem. Coinbase has supported AgentKit, a toolkit for secure wallets and onchain functions. AgentKit works with the open source x402 protocol.
Wallet providers are also adding automated features to their products. Trust Wallet, which Changpeng Zhao backs, has started rolling out agentic capabilities. These features aim to connect wallets with programmable onchain actions.
General-purpose platforms are also expanding into software development tasks. Anthropic’s Claude now supports coding assistance for various use cases. Venice AI also offers decentralized and private development tools.
Dreamspace entered beta testing last year before its broader release. During that period, users built more than 34,000 applications on the platform. Some of those applications came from students based in Indonesia.
The builder generates smart contract logic without requiring manual coding. It then deploys those applications directly onto Base. The public rollout now extends access beyond early testers.
Microsoft continues to support Space and Time as part of its broader blockchain investments. The integration with Microsoft Fabric remains active. Dreamspace now operates publicly on Base with verified data infrastructure in place.
