US stock futures wavered on Tuesday as investors weighed a mix of AI safety concerns and rising bond yields. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 slipped, while Nasdaq futures edged slightly higher.

The moves followed a losing session on Monday, when the Dow fell more than 300 points. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also closed lower. to investor unease. The document, reported by Reuters, shows the AI company is targeting a valuation of $2 trillion for its coming IPO. That figure is more than double its last known valuation of $965 billion.
The prospectus reportedly includes warnings that artificial intelligence could pose serious risks to humanity. Anthropic has not made an official filing public.
AI Safety Concerns Grow
Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI shelved its next generation AI model. The decision came after safety issues surfaced during internal testing.

This followed OpenAI’s disclosure over the weekend of further breaches involving its agentic AI systems. Together, the reports have added to broader questions about how AI companies manage risk.
A group of tech executives is scheduled to meet President Trump for a White House lunch on Tuesday afternoon. Attendees reportedly include Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei, Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang, and Google chief executive Sundar Pichai.
The meeting comes as public concern over AI safety continues to grow.
AMD was also in focus after announcing it would acquire AI startup World Labs for $8.2 billion. World Labs was founded by researcher Fei-Fei Li.
The deal is seen as a move to strengthen AMD’s AI talent and technology. AMD shares were little changed following the announcement.
Rising Yields Pressure Markets
Treasury yields continued to climb, adding pressure on stocks. The benchmark 10 year yield closed above 5.2%, a level not seen since 2007.
The 30 year yield topped 5.56%, trading near a 2004 high. Investors are concerned that persistent inflation could lead to further rate increases from the Federal Reserve.
Brent crude oil hovered near 100 dollars per barrel. WTI crude traded around 93 dollars per barrel.
Oil prices rose even as Saudi Arabia resumed exports through its East-West pipeline. US and Iranian officials also met with mediators in an effort to restart talks.
In Asia, major indexes fell across the board. Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped over one percent, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index and China’s CSI 300 also declined.
Investors are watching for fresh economic data due Tuesday. The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey and the Conference Board’s consumer confidence report are both scheduled for release.
Carnival Corporation and CarMax are among the companies reporting quarterly earnings this week. Separately, Spain reported annual inflation of 4.9% in September, its highest level since early 2023.
