TLDR
- Sui recorded 40,614,180 transactions per second in an offchain tunnel test held Oct. 7 in Singapore.
- The result passed Sui’s own July test of about 6.1 million TPS and beat a 20 million TPS target.
- More than 10,000 tunnels opened on Sui mainnet, carrying payments, games, and chat activity.
- CertiK acted as independent auditor and is reviewing the test data, with a report due soon.
- The test ties into Sui’s work with Google’s Agentic Payments Protocol and its USDsui stablecoin.
Sui said its programmable offchain tunnels processed more than 40 million transactions per second during a live stress test this week. The demonstration took place on Wednesday at Sui Basecamp in Singapore.
A world record.

The network hit a peak of 40,614,180 transactions per second. That number passed its own target of 20 million TPS set for the event.
This builds on an earlier test in July, when Sui’s tunnels reached about 6.1 million TPS. The new result is more than six times higher than that figure.
How the Tunnels Work
Sui’s tunnels are programmable channels that settle to the main blockchain once closed. Opening and closing a tunnel each require one onchain transaction.

Activity between those two steps happens offchain. This lets users complete many transactions without sending each one to the blockchain directly.
More than 10,000 tunnels opened during the test. Activity inside them covered payments, games, and chat applications.
Sui said closed tunnels are cosigned by participants and can be checked onchain afterward. This keeps a record of activity even though the transactions themselves happen offchain.
Mysten Labs co-founder and chief product officer Adeniyi Abiodun led the test. He said the network is built for a future where AI agents handle large volumes of daily transactions.
“No market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million: people just don’t move that fast,” Abiodun said. “Agents do.”
CertiK served as the independent auditor for the test. The firm is reviewing proofs, execution logs, and other supporting data, with a report expected in the coming days.
Ties to Google Payments and Stablecoin
Sui became a launch partner for Google’s Agentic Payments Protocol in September 2025. That open standard lets AI agents make payments on behalf of users.
Mysten Labs said its role includes supplying payment infrastructure for autonomous agents. Uses include paywall access and automated purchases.
The company also described identity tools for agent use, including cryptographic identifiers and context wallets. These are meant to let users keep control of their data while agents act for them.
Sui also runs a native stablecoin called USDsui, launched on March 4. Bridge, a Stripe subsidiary, issues the token through its Open Issuance platform.
USDsui supports payments, cross-border transfers, and remittances on Sui. It is also used for lending, trading, and liquidity across decentralized finance apps on the network.
Sui recorded more than $111 billion in stablecoin transfers in January 2026 alone. That figure reflects the value of transfers that month on the network.
U.S. investors can also gain exposure to SUI through exchange-traded funds. Canary Capital’s SUIS and Grayscale’s GSUI both began trading in February, holding SUI tokens directly and staking them for rewards.
Coinbase added SUI staking for customers in July, with estimated annual rewards between 1.4% and 3.3%. CertiK’s full review of the October test data is still pending.
