Synopsys (SNPS) gained momentum in premarket trading after unveiling new autonomous engineering capabilities with NVIDIA. The stock rose 1.49% to $379.05 after ending the previous session nearly unchanged at $373.47. The announcement highlighted new AI-driven workflows that automate chip verification, analog design, and engineering simulations while reducing development time.
Synopsys expands autonomous engineering across chip development
Synopsys introduced new agentic AI capabilities developed with NVIDIA to automate engineering tasks across semiconductor development. The companies presented the technology during the 2026 Design Automation Conference. The platform combines Synopsys engineering software with NVIDIA accelerated computing infrastructure.
The new workflow supports chip design, verification, and electronics system development through autonomous AI agents. The platform uses NVIDIA Nemotron models with NVIDIA accelerated computing resources. It also integrates secure runtime capabilities for continuous engineering operations.
The announcement expands Synopsys’ strategy to automate engineering processes that traditionally require extensive manual work. The platform performs long-running engineering tasks without constant human intervention. As a result, engineering teams can complete complex workflows with greater speed and consistency.
Autonomous workflows target verification, analog design, and simulation
Synopsys introduced a fully autonomous design verification workflow to reduce verification bottlenecks during chip development. The solution coordinates multiple AI agents throughout the verification process. It converts design goals into automated execution across testing, debugging, and coverage analysis.
The autonomous verification flow compresses work that previously required weeks into several hours. Synopsys reported verification speeds reaching up to 50 times faster validated RTL delivery. The workflow also improves coverage by up to 20% through continuous optimization.
The company also expanded autonomous analog and mixed-signal development capabilities. Engineers define design objectives using natural language before AI agents complete implementation and verification. Synopsys estimates the workflow improves analog engineering productivity by up to three times.
GPU acceleration strengthens engineering performance across software portfolio
Synopsys also expanded autonomous engineering into computer-aided engineering applications through electronics thermal analysis. The workflow automatically completes simulation setup, processing, and analysis with limited manual input. The solution combines NVIDIA Agent Toolkit with CUDA-X libraries and Ansys Icepak software.
The company also reported broader GPU acceleration across its engineering software portfolio. PrimeSim SPICE simulations achieve speeds up to 18 times faster using NVIDIA GPUs. QuantumATK accelerates semiconductor material simulations by up to 50 times while machine-learned force field simulations reach up to 200 times faster performance.
Synopsys also reported a tenfold improvement for Ansys Lumerical FDTD electromagnetic simulations using NVIDIA GPUs. The companies continue expanding CUDA-X integration across several engineering solvers. Synopsys expects customer availability for the autonomous engineering capabilities during the second half of 2026 while continuing demonstrations at the 2026 Design Automation Conference.
