Analysts Stay Bullish
BMO Capital’s Harsh Kumar initiated coverage with a Buy rating and a $550 price target. He described AMD as being “on the verge of becoming a complete AI infrastructure provider,” citing its GPU, CPU, and DPU product range plus the upcoming Helios full-rack AI system.
Helios is expected to ship in September 2026 and is already drawing interest from OpenAI, Meta, and Anthropic.
Raymond James analyst Simon Leopold went further, upgrading AMD to Strong Buy with a $641 target, up from $565. He pointed to strength in the server CPU market and called AMD the strongest combination of earnings leverage, data center positioning, and market-share gains on the street.
Leopold sees AMD’s data center revenue at least doubling in 2027, with the possibility of AMD overtaking Intel in data center CPU revenue by 2027 or 2028.
Wall Street’s overall consensus sits at Strong Buy, with 28 Buy ratings and 6 Holds. The average price target of $647.19 implies roughly 41% upside from current levels.
Saudi Arabia Deployment and Institutional Moves
AMD’s Instinct MI355X-based AI infrastructure went live in Saudi Arabia, a partnership involving Cisco and HUMAIN. The partners plan up to 250 megawatts of additional capacity starting in 2027, potentially scaling to 1 gigawatt by 2030.
On the institutional side, Field and Main Bank initiated a new AMD position in Q2, buying 19,373 shares worth around $11.3 million. That made AMD the bank’s 13th-largest holding. Institutional investors collectively own 71.34% of AMD’s outstanding stock.
Not all moves were positive. Ark Invest sold 156,286 AMD shares worth roughly $74.5 million on August 28, following a sale of 37,977 shares worth more than $18 million on August 26.
Two AMD insiders also sold stock in August under pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plans. EVP Forrest Norrod sold 17,261 shares at $459.95 on August 24, and EVP Mark Papermaster sold 28,811 shares at $471.87 on August 20.
AMD trades at a P/E ratio of 118.15 and a PEG ratio of 4.87. Rising bond yields have added pressure across the semiconductor sector, pulling AMD lower alongside Nvidia and Intel.
AMD’s 50-day moving average stands at $502.84, while its 200-day moving average is $389.16. The company’s market cap sits at approximately $750 billion.
