Bit2Me is expanding beyond retail crypto trading by working directly with law enforcement agencies and large institutions. The Spanish exchange has processed about 1.5 million euros, or $1.76 million, in confiscated cryptocurrency for agencies including Interpol, Europol, and Spanish police during 2025.
Bit2Me Expands Law Enforcement Services
The exchange helps authorities convert seized digital assets into fiat currency. Bit2Me uses blockchain analytics tools from Chainalysis to trace transactions, monitor funds, and support the liquidation process for confiscated crypto. The company’s work with public agencies forms part of a wider move toward business-to-business services. Bit2Me now serves banks, institutions, and government bodies alongside its retail customer base, giving the exchange several sources of revenue.
B2B activity now represents 27% of Bit2Me’s total revenue in 2025. The exchange also recorded 5.3 billion euros, or $6.24 billion, in trading volume this year, about eight times its 2023 level. Bit2Me supports more than 300 digital assets and provides custody services for institutional clients. Its custody offering carries 150 million euros in insurance coverage from Lloyd’s. Investors in the company include Tether, Bankinter, and Telefónica.
MiCA License Supports European Expansion
Bit2Me spent about 2.5 million euros and around 3,000 working hours to obtain authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets rules. Spain’s CNMV granted the exchange a Crypto-Asset Service Provider license covering custody, exchange, and transfer services. The authorization allows Bit2Me to use the European passporting system to offer approved services across EU markets. The company has already indicated that Portugal is among the markets it plans to target as part of its regional expansion.
Bit2Me has worked with Chainalysis since the early 2020s. The partnership gives the exchange access to transaction tracing and monitoring systems used for compliance checks and law enforcement support. A similar model exists in the United States, where the U.S. Marshals Service has worked with Coinbase on custody and possible liquidation of seized crypto. Bit2Me’s growing institutional business shows how regulated exchanges are moving beyond basic trading services as governments and financial firms increase their use of digital asset infrastructure.
The shift also reduces Bit2Me’s reliance on retail trading fees, which can vary with market activity. With regulated custody, law enforcement services, and institutional infrastructure, the exchange is building a wider business model as MiCA creates common operating rules across the European Union during 2025.
