It’s the company’s biggest single purchase since June. Strive bought the coins between September 28 and October 2 at an average price of $84,422 each.
The buy brings Strive’s total bitcoin holdings to 29,462 BTC. That stash is worth roughly $2.55 billion at current prices.
CEO Matt Cole said the company funded most of the purchase through sales of its SATA preferred shares. Those sales covered 61.5% of the capital raised.
Warrant exercises brought in another $56.7 million. The rest of the funding mix rounds out the picture for how Strive keeps stacking coins.
How Strive Stacks Up Against Rivals
Strive now sits 6,115 BTC behind MARA, which holds 35,577 BTC. That gap keeps Strive out of the fourth-largest public bitcoin treasury spot, for now.
The race for second place shifted too. Japan’s Metaplanet sold 10,000 BTC and bought back 11,000 BTC during the third quarter, a move the company called a liquidity demonstration.
That net 1,000 BTC gain pushed Metaplanet to 44,000 BTC, passing Twenty One’s 43,514 BTC. Strive sits 14,538 BTC behind Metaplanet’s new total.
To catch up by year-end, Strive would need to add about 1,212 BTC a week over the remaining 12 weeks. That assumes Metaplanet makes no further purchases, which is far from guaranteed given its recent trading.
Strategy still leads the pack by a wide margin. Michael Saylor’s company added 334 BTC for $28.7 million last week, pushing its total to 848,000 BTC.
Strive’s Quarterly Numbers
Strive also released preliminary third quarter figures in its SEC filing. The company bought 8,137 BTC during the quarter at an average price of $78,885.
Strive reported nearly $285 million in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30. Its year-to-date BTC yield reached 63.2%.
The company’s amplification ratio, a measure comparing its preferred equity and debt to its bitcoin value, stood at 55.3%. Cole said he wants to push that above 60% while bitcoin stays under $100,000.
Strive’s bitcoin holdings have grown more than 290% so far this year. The company recently passed crypto exchange Bullish to become the world’s fifth-largest corporate bitcoin treasury.
ASST stock rallied nearly 140% during the third quarter overall. The stock gained about 1.7% last week alone, separate from Monday’s jump.
Strive’s SATA preferred shares traded near their $100 par value on Monday. The preferred stock pays a daily dividend at an annualized rate of $13 per share, an effective yield of about 13%.
Bitcoin itself traded near $86,000 on Monday, after touching a 24-hour high of $86,948. Trading volume for bitcoin jumped 78% over the prior 24 hours.
Cole commented on the pace of accumulation, saying the company plans to keep adding to its position. Rivals including Strategy’s Michael Saylor publicly acknowledged Strive’s latest buy.
