Anthropic is giving more cybersecurity organizations access to its most advanced artificial intelligence models. The company announced the update on Tuesday.

The expanded program combines two earlier efforts, called Project Glasswing and the Cyber Verification Program, into one system. It now has three levels of access.
The models included are Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Claude Mythos 5.1. Future models will also be included as they are released.
Anthropic first gave limited access to its Mythos model in April. That access went to government agencies, financial institutions, and major software companies.
How the New Access Tiers Work
The first tier is called Defense Access. It is meant for security teams doing defensive work, like responding to incidents or fixing vulnerabilities.
The second tier, Red Team Access, allows authorized penetration testing. These teams can test systems they are approved to examine, including infrastructure in critical industries.
The third tier, Specialized Access, has the fewest restrictions. It is reserved for organizations working with the U.S. government to test systems such as power grids, flight operations, and bank transfer networks.
Anthropic said it will still block actions that could cause physical harm or mass disruption. This applies even to the highest access tier.
Existing members of Project Glasswing will move into the Specialized Access tier. They will not need to reapply for current models.
Rising Concerns Over Cyber Risk
The expanded access comes after officials raised concerns about AI and cybersecurity. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said Mythos had increased global cybersecurity risks tenfold.
In August, the U.S. government said it would work with private companies on cyberattacks abroad. This expanded the scope of operations once handled mainly by government agencies.
Anthropic ran tests to check how well its safeguards worked at each tier. Without program access, every test task was blocked immediately.
In the Defense Access tier, 46 of 50 test trials were blocked at some point. In the Red Team Access tier, no trials were blocked at all.
Anthropic said partners using Claude Mythos found more than 129,000 verified software vulnerabilities between April and July 2026. More than 33,000 of those were rated critical or high severity.
The company’s own scanning efforts found another 5,500 vulnerabilities between April and October 2026. Anthropic said the true number is likely much higher.
Later this fall, Anthropic plans to launch a system called Enterprise Frontier Safeguards. It is designed to let organizations store data privately while still allowing Anthropic to monitor for misuse.
Until that system is ready, companies with zero data retention agreements can still use the program under those same privacy terms. Anthropic said it will keep updating its safeguards over time.
