TLDR
- Charles Hoskinson is developing an undisclosed concept that he says only Midnight can deliver.
- Crypto commentator Fire Hustle believes NIGHT could benefit more directly than ADA from the proposed project.
- The commentator identified private AI computing and cross-chain trading as possible uses for Hoskinson’s concept.
- Midnight surpassed one million cumulative transactions in October as network activity increased.
- NIGHT holders can generate DUST to pay for transactions and application activity on Midnight.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson’s undisclosed Midnight project could create more direct demand for NIGHT than ADA, according to crypto commentator Fire Hustle. The assessment follows Hoskinson’s claim that he is designing a concept he considers the defining work of his career.
Hoskinson has not announced the product, its features, or a release date. The commentator’s assessment is not a confirmed project announcement.
Hoskinson Keeps Midnight Concept Under Wraps
In an October 17 post, Hoskinson said only Midnight could deliver his proposed concept. He described the design as nearly complete but offered no technical details.
Fire Hustle suggested private computing for artificial intelligence agents as one possibility. They could execute instructions while protecting data. The host also considered automated trading across blockchains and privacy services for other networks.
Others are pursuing related tools. A recent cross-chain settlement launch by Consensys allows institutions to coordinate transactions across separate ledgers. That announcement does not establish a connection to Hoskinson’s project.
NIGHT Has a Direct Link to Network Use
Midnight uses two resources. NIGHT holders can register their tokens to generate DUST, which pays for transactions and application activity. The arrangement does not require users to spend NIGHT each time.
Fire Hustle cited daily Midnight transactions rising from below 300 to over 26,000 in roughly a week. Explorer figures showed 47,714 on October 26, compared with 128 on September 27. Cumulative transactions passed one million in October.
The increase followed September’s opening of permissionless application deployment. However, transaction counts alone do not prove lasting economic demand. Meanwhile, a Cardano price report placed ADA near $0.19 on October 30.
Cardano Rewards Remain a Future Plan
Midnight’s roadmap schedules community block production for early 2027. Cardano stake pool operators would then become eligible to produce Midnight blocks. NIGHT holders could also delegate tokens to earn rewards.
The roadmap does not promise automatic NIGHT payments to every ADA delegator. At NEAR, voters recently approved a staking rewards proposal to reduce future token issuance while retaining its existing rewards distribution.
Fire Hustle also cited less than $100 million locked in Cardano applications and daily fees below $2,000. Those figures were snapshots, not forecasts. The host noted that ADA peaked shortly before Cardano’s 2021 smart contract launch, although previous price movements cannot determine future returns for ADA or NIGHT.
