Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest has been reshaping its portfolio this week, selling off millions in technology stocks while picking up new positions in biotech and AI chips.
The biggest move came Wednesday when ARK sold 37,977 shares of Advanced Micro Devices, worth around $18.1 million. AMD shares closed down 0.9% at $476.67 that day.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., AMD
This sale is part of a longer trend. Wood has been cutting ARK’s stake in AMD over recent months, even as the stock more than doubled this year.
To replace that AI chip exposure, ARK bought 57,705 shares of Broadcom and 69,585 shares of Cerebras Systems on the same day. Broadcom closed up 4.5% at $371.54, while Cerebras rose 2.5% to $186.67.
Despite the selling, ARK still holds more AMD than either of its newer picks. The flagship ARK Innovation ETF holds $193.3 million in AMD, versus $149.5 million in Cerebras and $95.3 million in Broadcom.
ARK Trims Tempus AI After a Week of Sales
On Thursday, ARK sold another 59,276 shares of Tempus AI through its ARKK ETF, valued at just over $4 million. This follows a string of Tempus AI sales earlier in the week.
ARK also sold 22,225 shares of Twist Bioscience across its ARKK and ARKG ETFs for $3.3 million. That sale has been a repeated move throughout the week as well.
Smaller trims included 1,001 shares of Roblox for $37,597 and 29,385 shares of Brera Holdings for $116,658.
Biotech Gets Fresh Capital
On the buying side, ARK picked up 47,793 shares of Veracyte for $2.1 million, split across its ARKK and ARKG funds. This points to growing interest in the cancer diagnostics company.
ARK also bought 5,085 shares of Scribe Therapeutics through its ARKG ETF for $161,194, continuing a pattern of biotech investment.
These moves show ARK shifting money away from some tech names and into genomics and biotech, sectors that have long been central to Wood’s strategy.
Wood built ARK’s reputation on high-conviction bets in areas like genomics, robotics, and AI, including an early position in Tesla. However, the flagship ARKK fund has posted an annualized loss of around 9% over the past five years.
The latest trades suggest Wood is again repositioning, pulling back from AMD and Tempus AI while adding to positions in Broadcom, Cerebras, and Veracyte.
ARK’s ARKK ETF closed up 1.87% and its ARKG ETF rose 0.85% on Thursday.
