TLDR
- Payward, Kraken’s parent company, has joined Anthropic’s Project Glasswing and gained access to Claude Mythos 5, an advanced AI cybersecurity model.
- The company plans to scan all its software environments for vulnerabilities within the coming weeks.
- Validated vulnerabilities found in third-party open-source software will be shared with relevant project maintainers.
- Project Glasswing, launched in April 2026, now includes around 150 organizations across 15 countries.
- Mythos 5 access is restricted to vetted organizations because its capabilities can also be used to create exploits.

Payward announced the development on August 17. The company plans to deploy Mythos 5 across its environments within the coming weeks to scan for software vulnerabilities.
Claude Mythos 5 can read code at scale, identify weaknesses and suggest patches. Anthropic restricts access to the model because those same capabilities can also help produce working exploits.
Payward’s infrastructure supports digital asset trading, custody and settlement services that run around the clock. The company argues that crypto platforms face security challenges similar to other critical financial infrastructure.
Payward co-CEO Arjun Sethi said the model changes the balance between attackers and defenders. “A model can read every line of code the way an attacker would, at machine scale, so we find the flaw before anyone can build the exploit,” Sethi said.
Findings from the scans will enter Payward’s existing security review process. The company has not said whether Mythos 5 will access live production systems or isolated code copies.
Human Review Still Required
Payward said AI-generated findings will require human validation before being classified as vulnerabilities. False positives are a known issue when AI systems review complex software.
The Ethereum Foundation reached a similar conclusion in its own AI security testing. Its researchers found that AI-generated vulnerability reports still needed independent human review, especially for complex protocol code.
Payward also plans to disclose validated vulnerabilities in third-party open-source software to the relevant project maintainers. It has not published a coordinated disclosure policy or timeline for how that process will work.
About Project Glasswing
Anthropic launched Project Glasswing in April 2026. Early participants included Amazon Web Services, Apple, Cisco, Google, JPMorganChase and Microsoft.
The initiative has since expanded to around 150 organizations across more than 15 countries. Participating organizations must meet security requirements before receiving access.
Anthropic’s earlier Mythos Preview reportedly found more than 10,000 high or critical severity flaws across widely used software. The company’s disclosure dashboard showed a 90.8% true positive rate among reviewed findings, though only 97 listed vulnerabilities had been patched upstream as of May 2026.
Payward’s access followed a U.S. government decision allowing Mythos 5 to reach organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure.
Anthropic requires Mythos 5 customers to accept 30-day data retention for safety monitoring. Payward has not detailed what code or system information will be submitted during the scanning process.
No performance targets were announced. The company said results will feed into its existing security program rather than automatically producing software changes.
