Microsoft Corp. expanded its artificial intelligence infrastructure through a broader partnership with Advanced Micro Devices. The agreement brings AMD Helios rack-scale systems to Microsoft Azure for advanced AI workloads.
Microsoft expands Azure AI infrastructure with AMD Helios
Microsoft will deploy AMD Helios systems across Azure to support frontier AI model inference and enterprise computing. The deployment strengthens Azure’s computing portfolio while expanding infrastructure for demanding artificial intelligence applications. AMD plans to begin shipping Helios systems during the second half of 2026.
Helios combines AMD Instinct MI455X graphics processors with sixth-generation EPYC Venice processors into one integrated platform. The system also includes Pensando networking technology and ROCm software for AI training and inference. As a result, Microsoft gains access to a unified platform built for large-scale artificial intelligence operations.
The partnership also extends beyond graphics processing systems into cloud computing and networking infrastructure. Microsoft will introduce Azure HDv2 virtual machines for agentic AI and large data pipeline workloads. Azure HXv2 virtual machines will target semiconductor design applications requiring advanced computing performance.
Azure broadens AMD technology across cloud platform
Microsoft will also increase the deployment of AMD Pensando data processing units across Azure networking infrastructure. Furthermore, Azure Boost will integrate with AMD technologies to improve networking efficiency across Microsoft’s cloud environment. These additions support faster communication between computing resources while improving infrastructure performance.
The expanded partnership builds on years of collaboration between Microsoft and AMD across cloud computing products. Both companies continue increasing hardware integration as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure grows worldwide. Consequently, Azure customers will receive additional computing options for training and inference workloads.
The agreement also reflects Microsoft’s strategy of expanding hardware choices within its cloud platform. AMD continues positioning its latest processors and accelerators for enterprise artificial intelligence deployments. Therefore, Azure customers will gain broader access to AMD’s latest computing technologies through Microsoft’s cloud services.
Microsoft stock rebounds after early weakness
Microsoft shares recovered sharply after falling near an intraday low of approximately $389 during Monday’s session. The stock later climbed to about $397.82, posting a gain of roughly 1.02% by late morning trading. Strong buying activity lifted the shares toward session highs after the early decline.
The recovery pushed Microsoft above the $395 area, which now serves as an important short-term support level. The stock approached the $398 mark after maintaining steady upward momentum throughout the session. A sustained move above that level would extend the current recovery from the morning pullback.
Microsoft continues expanding its artificial intelligence capabilities through infrastructure partnerships alongside product development. The broader Azure ecosystem now includes additional AMD processors, networking technologies, and rack-scale computing systems. Together, these additions strengthen Microsoft’s cloud platform while supporting growing demand for enterprise artificial intelligence services.
