Justin Sun, founder of the Tron network, said the network’s post-quantum cryptography is now live on testnet. He shared the news in a post on X on Saturday.
TRON's post-quantum cryptography is now live on testnet. We're closely tracking progress in quantum computing and AI, and we're ready to bring quantum resistance to mainnet at any time.

“We’re closely tracking progress in quantum computing and AI, and we’re ready to bring quantum resistance to mainnet at any time,” Sun wrote.
He added that Tron is set to be one of the few major blockchains that is quantum-resistant before Q-Day. Q-Day is the day quantum computers become capable of breaking current security standards.
Sun also discussed the work at TOKEN2049 Singapore on October 8. He said Tron has made progress toward post-quantum readiness. End-to-end post-quantum signature support is deployed on the Nile testnet.
Why Developers Focus on Quantum Security
Developers have paid more attention to post-quantum cryptography in recent months. Powerful quantum computers may one day break the elliptic-curve cryptography that secures Bitcoin, Ethereum and many other networks.
Earlier this year, a Strategy-led group pledged $15 million to fund Bitcoin quantum security research. The Ethereum Foundation published a proposal for moving accounts to quantum-resistant cryptography. Algorand outlined plans to add quantum-resistant accounts by 2027.
CoinDesk reported on July 28 that security company AmericanFortress unveiled a plan to protect crypto wallets from quantum attacks. The plan would not require users to move funds, rotate keys or change wallet addresses.
The company published the proposal in a technical paper on the Cryptography ePrint Archive. The paper has not yet been peer-reviewed.
Sun Speaks at Two Singapore Conferences
TRON DAO took part in TOKEN2049 Singapore as Title Sponsor. It also joined Blockworks’ Digital Asset Summit Asia 2026 at the Marina Bay Sands.
On October 7, Sun spoke with Blockworks co-founder Michael Ippolito at DAS Asia. They covered stablecoins, institutional adoption and AI agent payments. Sun said tokenized assets and stablecoins are useful for cross-border payments and access to digital dollars.
On October 8, Sun spoke with Kevin Follonier, founder of When Shift Happens, at TOKEN2049. The talk covered blockchain, stablecoins, AI agents and global finance.
Sun predicted that AI agents will make payments and buy digital services for users. “AI agents using crypto will become the industry’s biggest use case within the next five years,” he said.
He also discussed the Justin Sun Prize, which he calls the “Nobel Prize of the AI Era.” It is a decentralized academic bounty program built around a list of problems. Breakthroughs are checked through machine formal verification.
TRON DAO also hosted a booth and a networking event for creators and media at the conference.
As of October 2026, Tron holds the largest circulating supply of USDT, which exceeds $94 billion. TRONSCAN data shows more than 407 million user accounts, over 15 billion transactions and more than $28 billion in total value locked.
