Le said Strategy has purchased around 175,000 Bitcoin since January while selling roughly 7,000 BTC, making it a net buyer by a ratio of about 25 to one.
Strategy’s Bitcoin reserve now stands at 840,447 BTC, acquired at an average price of $75,385 per coin, for a total cost basis of around $63.36 billion.
The most recent sale, disclosed in an Aug. 10 SEC filing, saw Strategy offload 1,690 BTC between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9 at an average price of $64,262, generating $108.6 million.
Those proceeds were used to repurchase 1,152,020 STRC preferred shares at an average price of about $94.29 each. Around $785.2 million remains under the company’s STRC repurchase authorization.
The week before, Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoin for $104.73 million, splitting the proceeds between preferred-stock dividends and further STRC buybacks. Across both periods, the company sold 3,328 BTC for approximately $213.3 million.
Why Strategy Has Been Selling
The sales are tied to Strategy’s effort to stabilize its STRC preferred stock, which trades under that ticker and carries a $100 stated value.
STRC fell below $75 in late June and was trading near $87 when Le discussed the buying timeline during a Bloomberg interview in July. Le said at the time that Strategy would issue more STRC and buy more Bitcoin once the security returned to par.
Strategy has kept STRC’s annualized dividend rate at 12% for August despite the stock ending July below $90. The company describes regular repurchases below the $100 level as part of a plan to support the security ahead of future issuances.
Le confirmed to FOX Business that building liquidity is currently a priority. Strategy’s dollar reserve grew from $4 billion to $4.65 billion as of Aug. 9, after the company directed $650 million from common stock sales into the reserve.
The company sold 6,585,329 MSTR common shares through its at-the-market programs, generating around $653.1 million in net proceeds.
Dollar Reserve Hits $4.65 Billion
Le said during Strategy’s second-quarter earnings call that the company had learned the importance of holding dollars rather than relying solely on Bitcoin as a liquid asset.
The reserve, which management established in December 2025, is intended to cover preferred dividends and interest payments. In late July, the $3.75 billion balance was estimated to provide about 2.1 years of coverage. The current $4.65 billion balance extends that runway further.
Adjusted MSTR shares outstanding rose to approximately 423.85 million following the latest common-stock sales. The company still had around $11.7 billion of MSTR shares available across two at-the-market programs.
Strategy also retains a separate $1 billion authorization to buy back MSTR common stock, which had not been used as of Aug. 9.
Le has not announced a specific date for the next Bitcoin purchase.
