The two companies first started working together in May 2025. Their initial commercial service launched in Zagreb, Croatia, in partnership with local operator Verne.
Expansion Into Five European Cities
The updated agreement will extend that service to four additional European cities, though their names have not been disclosed. No completion timeline has been provided.
Under the joint model, Pony.ai supplies its Level 4 autonomous driving technology. Uber handles booking, payments, and customer service through its global mobility platform. Local fleet partners manage on-the-ground operations.
Level 4 autonomy means the vehicle can handle all driving tasks in defined conditions without human input. This is a key part of Pony.ai’s commercial strategy as it looks to scale internationally.
Pony.ai is incorporated in the Cayman Islands and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company focuses on robotaxi solutions and has been expanding beyond China into global markets.
The latest analyst rating on Pony.ai stock is a Buy, with a price target of HK$148.00. The stock’s current market cap sits at HK$29.17 billion.
Technical sentiment on the stock is currently rated as Strong Sell, according to market data.
Middle East Plans Also Included
The expansion agreement also covers the Middle East, though no specific cities or details were shared in the announcement.
Uber’s role in the partnership gives Pony.ai access to a large existing user base without needing to build its own consumer-facing app. That structure lowers the barrier to entry in new markets.
The deal also relies on local fleet operators in each region, which reduces the need for Pony.ai to own and manage vehicles directly.
Pony.ai has been cautioning investors to take care when trading its shares, a standard reminder the company includes alongside major business announcements.
The company sees this expanded partnership as a key step in its global growth strategy, with a focus on regional-scale fleet deployments.
The Zagreb service remains the only active commercial operation under the partnership so far, with European and Middle East expansions still to come.
