President Trump purchased up to $50,000 in SpaceX (SPCX) stock on June 23, 2026, according to a financial disclosure signed August 12 and released publicly on August 22. SpaceX closed at $135 on Monday, down 1.44%, but has gained 17.32% over the past month.

The buy came just 11 days after SpaceX completed its IPO on June 12, which valued the space, satellite and AI company at approximately $1.77 trillion, the largest-ever U.S. initial public offering.
Federal disclosure rules require officials to report investment value ranges rather than exact figures, so the precise amount Trump invested is not publicly known.
The SpaceX purchase was one of more than 1,000 stock trades Trump made during June 2026. Other major buys included Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, Mastercard and Cintas.
Trump Also Sold Major Tech Names
At the same time, Trump’s portfolio recorded sales in several high-profile tech names. These included Nvidia ($15,001 to $50,000), Apple ($50,001 to $100,000), Broadcom ($100,001 to $250,000), Amazon ($100,001 to $250,000) and Tesla ($15,001 to $50,000), all on dates in June 2026.
The White House was quick to clarify that Trump does not control these trades. Spokesman Davis Ingle stated that third-party financial institutions manage the portfolio independently, replicating recognised indexes such as the Schwab 1000.
“Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold,” Ingle said.
SpaceX’s Government Ties Draw Attention
The investment does raise eyebrows given SpaceX’s deep ties to the federal government. SpaceX is a major U.S. military contractor and regularly seeks approvals from federal agencies.
Last week, Trump signed a memorandum directing his team to dramatically increase the number of U.S. commercial space launches, targeting at least 1,000 launches and re-entries per year by 2030. SpaceX is the dominant player in that market.
Kelly Loeffler, head of the Small Business Administration and a Trump cabinet member, also profited from the SpaceX IPO. She had invested in xAI, Musk’s AI firm that has since merged with SpaceX, and her first investment could have been worth between $7 million and $2.6 billion on IPO day, according to PitchBook analyst Franco Granda.
On the financial side, SpaceX posted Q2 revenue of $7.81 billion, a 92% year-over-year jump that beat the $6.93 billion analyst consensus. Its loss of 9 cents per share was also narrower than the 24-cent loss analysts had expected.
SpaceX stock closed at $135 on Monday, down 1.44% on the day.
