Rocket Lab (RKLB) stock climbed 1.5% in premarket trading on September 11 after the company completed its 16th Electron rocket mission of 2026. The stock currently trades at $61.96, down 11% year-to-date.
The mission, called “Happily Ever Faster,” lifted off from Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand at 3:28 p.m. local time. It delivered an Earth-observation satellite for a confidential customer into a 500-kilometer low Earth orbit.
This was Rocket Lab’s 95th launch overall. Another Electron mission is expected before the end of September, this time for a commercial satellite group.

Analyst Coverage Expands
Raymond James analyst Brian Gesuale started coverage of RKLB on September 11 with a Buy rating and an $80 price target. That implies 29% upside. He pointed to strong sales and backlog growth as key factors.
Berenberg Bank analyst Michael Filatov also holds a Buy rating with an $83 price target, citing Electron and the planned Neutron rocket as growth drivers. He noted that limited launch capacity is becoming a bottleneck across the space sector.
Filatov does flag execution risk and says the stock trades at a high valuation. He views pullbacks as a chance to build a position.
Wall Street overall is bullish. RKLB carries a Strong Buy consensus from TipRanks, with 14 Buys and 3 Holds over the last three months. The average price target sits at $110.13, suggesting 78% upside from current levels.
Institutional Buying Alongside Insider Sales
RFG Advisory bought 19,146 RKLB shares worth roughly $1.95 million in Q2. BlackRock also took a new position in Q2, worth over $4.1 billion. Institutional investors now own 71.78% of the company.
On the other side, insiders have sold 3.6 million shares worth about $312.9 million over the past 90 days. SVP Arjun Kampani sold 6,034 shares on August 27 at $66.65. Insider Frank Klein sold 35,558 shares the same day at $66.61. Both sales were made under pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plans.
Rocket Lab reported Q2 revenue of $234.07 million, beating estimates of $231.62 million. EPS came in at -$0.08, missing the -$0.06 consensus. The company carries roughly $2.36 billion in backlog and around $2.4 billion in cash.
The company also recently unveiled IMM Apex, a high-efficiency solar cell for spacecraft. ARK Invest added approximately $154,000 of RKLB following that announcement.
Neutron, Rocket Lab’s larger rocket under development, has no confirmed launch date. The next milestone is expected to be hardware delivery to the launch pad rather than an actual launch.
